Martin Sheen won some award for his Catholic representation – he came back to the Church after a long absence I read in my Diocesan newspaper.

“I personally am opposed to abortion, but I will not judge anybody else’s right in that regard because I am not a woman and I could never face the actual reality of it.” - Martin Sheen.

I’m not judging his faith, but such statements are certainly not consistent with Church teaching on Life issues. I hope he has a change of heart.

Believe it or not I’m not at all surprised that Martin Sheen is - to but it mildly - wishy-washy on his stance on abortion. He certainly seems like the type. Are any of his kids religious in any way?

I’m not surprised Pac Man is so devout.

Well, in the hands of Anthony Esolen, I found it transformed into a lot more than that. Did you read the essay BTW or are you just gracing us with an opinion?

And WAY too full of lapsed Catholics!!! It seemed like there were more “famous” lapsed Catholics than practicing!

Any theories as to why Catholicism in America doesn’t seem to be doing so hot? Are all the “good” Catholics becoming priests and brothers and sisters? Surely there’s some called to secular life?!

Many of the people in network or cable news are Catholic:

Sean Hannity
Chris Matthews
Pat Buchanan
Margaret Carlson
Bill O’Reilly
Ellis Henican
Lawrence O’Donnell
Kate O’Beirne
Geraldo Rivera
Brian Williams
Judge Andrew Napolitano
John McLaughlin
Mika Brzezenski
Laura Ingraham
Norah O’Donnell
Andrew Sullivan
Gretchen Carlson
Mark Shields
Newt Gingrich
Monica Crowley
Tim Russert (deceased)
Robert Novak (deceased)
Tony Snow (deceased)

Glenn Beck was Catholic, but converted to Mormon.
Greta Van Susteren is a Scientologist.
Lou Dobbs is pretty outspoken against the Catholic Church.

Elvis Costello was on Stephen Colbert last night and prefaced one comment with “Speaking to a fellow Catholic…”

Don’t forget Sylvester Stallone 😃 and also Ray Mysterio from WWE Wrestling 🙂

Jesus Christ said, “There will be many wolves in sheep’s clothing, do not be led astray”. I see many people just calling themselves Catholic, but do they do the will of the Father? Small wonder, there is so much confusion as to what Catholics really stand for.
When I think of true Catholics living in modern times, (those with fruit on the tree), I think of St.Maximilian Kolbe, St. Padre Pio, or Mother Theresa.
These are the ones who really leave me with no room to speak.
I am constantly in need of confession.

I saw someplace today that Erma Bombeck was a convert to Catholicism.

David Boreanaz from “Bones” is a Catholic. I saw him on the Bonnie Hunt show last summer and he was discussing taking his oldest son to church and explaining Holy Communion to him. 🙂
I was excited to hear him talk about it. He’s one of my favorite actors on television and hearing hes a practicing Catholic makes me admire him that much more.

I believe 6 of the current Supreme Court justices.
Michael Moore.
Founder of Dominoes.
