The Gilbreths (of “Cheaper by the Dozen”) were mentioned on the first page, but I think their mom deserves her own post.
Lillian Gilbreth and her husband Frank are considered the mother and father of industrial engineering. Lillian was well educated - she had a master’s before she married Frank and earned her Ph.D. while raising her children. She was a professor and wrote many books - she would use the time on bed rest before and after giving birth to work on her writing. Not too many people (besides engineers) know about her achievements - they just know she is the mom in “Cheaper by the Dozen.”
