Farrakhan, Wright and Pfleger to receive 'Living Legends' award

Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, And A Catholic Priest Walk Into A Benefit…

I saw this story initially on The O’Reilly Factor and he talked about how Father Pfleger is receiving an award from Rev. Wright and be in the same room as Louis Farrakhan.

Apparently the O’Reilly Factor called the Archdiocese of Chicago to ask why Father Pfleger is going to be in the same room as Louis Farrakhan who is an Anti-Semite and they have no comment on this!!
 
Fr Pfleger is nuts, his behaviour both now and in the past is a cause of scandal,the Archdiocese needs to act.

Farrakhan will surely put this award right next to the Al-Gaddafi International Prize for Human Rights he got from Muammar al-Gaddafi in 1996.

Jesus warned us about such people; “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” (Mt 7:15)

So many wonderful things seem to come from Chicago lately! Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan & N.O.I., Fr. Phleger, Obama, Rham Emanuel, Blago, the Cubs???

Pray for them & especially Fr. Phleger. As a Catholic priest he has no excuses for supporting & empowering people who use racism & hatred to gain power & wealth!

I don’t think color has anything to do with this. But I would like to know why Pfleger is associating himself with Farrakhan?

Perhaps ‘associating’ is a leap. I thought he was rolling with the bishop? Maybe we could ask him. This is from today:

What you are talking about is totally different than what O’Reilly is talking about. O’Reilly said that Pfleger, Farrakhan and Wright were receiving awards from Wright.

I agree wholeheartedly. Any priest who would want to be present in the same room as an antisemite is off his rocker.

The awardees this evening are here because they love beyond racial and cultural divides. This is true for all—for Bishop Perry, Michael Rabbitt, Elena Segura, Sr. Kathleen Tait, Phyllis Winter—and also for Fr. Michael Pfleger. If the list did not include Fr. Pfleger, I would hazard to guess that the media interest tonight would be much reduced. Fr. Pfleger has been a controversialist; and controversy is easier to report on than is love. Fr. Plfeger has spoken in anger, sometimes unjustly or uncharitably; and anger is easier to capture on the camera than is love. But Fr. Pfleger is a Catholic priest and a pastor, and in that capacity, like all good priests and pastors, he acts out of love. Ask his people. Ask the sick he has visited and the dying he has attended. Ask the troubled he has consoled. Ask the young people he has counseled and the school children he has supported.

As part of his ministry for racial justice, Fr. Pfleger has addressed killing, for killing is not an act of love. We are surrounded by killing on the streets and in the schools, by violence in homes and by abortion that kills a child in its mother’s womb. The killing of the unborn is obviously a racial justice issue when disproportionately those killed before birth come from families of racial minorities. Abortion kills. It kills an unborn child, and it often kills a mother’s spirit. It kills a society that embraces it as a personal right. Abortion kills social and racial justice.

Cardinal George seems to be saying that in addition to fighting the typical racial injustice problems, Fr. Pfleger also is involved in ANTI-abortion efforts. No, he’s not saying that directly, but it is implied or it could easily be read that way. Pfleger supports Obama, and invites pro-abortion leaders to speak in his parish. If he’s fighting abortion, he’s sure going about it in a strange way. I’d like to see him use some of that fire-and-brimstone preaching to convince people that both racism AND abortion are evil.

It sickens me that he is being honored. Sure he’s done good things, but he’s also done great harm. Dr. Aletha King spoke at our pro-life dinner in Waco and said something I’ll never forget (okay, I have to paraphrase, but cut me some slack, I’m turning 51 this month). She asked if you saw someone make brownies, and in addition to the sugar, real butter, and premium chocolate, she added a couple of ounces of dog poop, would you eat the brownies? Similarly, we’ve all heard the phrase that “Mussolini made the trains run on time,” and we know that Hitler did wonders for the economy of Germany. Would Cardinal George be willing to give them awards for the good they did?

That’s your outside opinion. If you disagree with the action, you should write to the cardinal and set him straight.

Comparing these three bigots to the Three Stooges is an a fine comedy trio.

Besides, I’d rather have Moe Larry and Curly in charge of St. Sabina’s. There would be less heresy then.
