Has anyone ever heard of anything called the Farris Ecclesiastical Dictionary? I am on another site where a Witness is quoting it, where it essentially equates the Pope as a deity, if the quoted portions are correct and in context. That poster usually has a fairly standard anti-Catholic catalogue of sources, but I’ve never heard of this book and I was nine pages into a google search with no luck. I have seen Witnesses quote a Lucius Ferraris, not that I know a lot about him, but this seems to be something different. Thanks for any help, guys.

Ok, my correspondent was spelling the name wrong; it is Lucius Ferraris and the “Prompta Bibliotheca” or something like that. Does anyone have any info beyond what is in newadvent.org on Lucius Ferraris? Thanks for any help.

Did your interlocutor provide the Latin text or just a translation? He’s obviously just handing over some stuff he picked up someplace. Ask him for the Latin text.

Actually, he did post the Latin text. However, I cannot read Latin.

Thanks, Mercygate. It was kind of lengthy, so I’ll try to link it when I have time.

However, I think it is probably accurate but out of context. Alternatively, it seems to be one of those times that someone has their mind made up, and looks at the evidence to confirm that view, even if it doesn’t or a balanced view would not support that.
