Does anyone know the rules of following Lent? I know one of them is to abstain from any meats except for fish and seafood on Ash wednesday and every Friday until Good Friday. Also we should fast. I am really bad at fasting because I cannot go a long time without eating anything. I can follow the no meat rule. That is easier for me than fasting. if I have a health problem, I don’t have to fast, right? What other rules besides these two, that we need to follow?

I wouldn’t worry about this until next Lent.

Ask your priest what you should do when that time comes.

Fasting and Abstainance are two different things We in the Latin Rite, Fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. We Abstain from Meat on those days as well and on all Fridays in Lent.

We are required to Abstain from meat on all other Fridays in the US unless we substitute another penance.

Fasting at other times and on other days is a devotional practice, and is not supposed to be easy or “fun”, but a sacrifice. Most people can Fast even with medical problems with careful planning and the guidance of their doctor.

If you click on the link provided by passus and carefully read what it says about fasting, you will see that fasting means eating less than normal not eating nothing. You will satisfy the fasting obligation if on the fast day you eat one normal meal and two smaller-than-normal meals which if added together would not exceed the main meal in quantity.
