If I have part of a side dish of my “large meal” shortly (about 30 minutes) before consuming the whole thing, have I broken the fast?
LOL…getting a bit hungry are we?If I have part of a side dish of my “large meal” shortly (about 30 minutes) before consuming the whole thing, have I broken the fast?
It’s a better idea to have a glass of milk (or some very milky tea or coffee) to calm the stomach down until mealtime if you’re feeling hungry. If I have part of a side dish of my “large meal” shortly (about 30 minutes) before consuming the whole thing, have I broken the fast?
Does drinking things other than water between meals count as breaking the fast? I thought consuming calories outside of meals in anyway (except medicine) wasn’t fasting but I may be wrong here and it may only mean foodIt’s a better idea to have a glass of milk (or some very milky tea or coffee) to calm the stomach down until mealtime if you’re feeling hungry.
I think that you’re correct and I also believe that there’s a great danger of being legalistic here. think that the most important thing is to not eat any meat on Good Friday and as little food as possible.Does drinking things other than water between meals count as breaking the fast? Nope. Milk, juices, and other liquids OK, calories or not. But milkshakes cross the line and are a no-no. I myself drink a quart of non-fat milk for breakfast, and have solid food only at dinner and supper. Meat or Fish at dinner only. As always, talk it over with your spiritual director (if you have one) or your Priest or other Religious you can trust.Does drinking things other than water between meals count as breaking the fast?
