Father God?

I’ve noticed that many Protestants use the term “Father God” when praying. Is this heretical?
 
No, absolutely not. Jesus instructed us to call God “Father.” Saying “Father God” amounts to the same thing as “God the Father,” which we say all the time.

I use this term all the time when I pray. And I’m Catholic. God is, after all, my Father, and I address Him as such.

Something like this…“Father God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus…”
 
Okay, good to know. I was just confused because I had never heard this phrase being used in an explicitly Catholic setting.
 
When Jesus taught us to say ;the Our Father, He said pray thus, “Our Father”. This did several things.
  1. It made Jesus our brother.
  2. It made the Father, our Father, and
  3. it made us adopted children of the Father.
It is because of this that we are heirs to the kingdom of Heaven as a birthright through the merits of Jesus our brother. We lose this birthright through grievous sin.Think of the parable of the prodigal son. When he returned to his father, he was accepted with open arms and love. That is the way God always waits for us. With open arms and love. I am sure glad we have a Father like this.

Since our Lord came to reveal The Father , His Love for us, and has called the disciples ‘children’ on atleast two occasions - esp. on the momentous occasion of The Last Supper when about to lay down His life for us children, would it not be right to relate to our Lord (as well as to all Three Persons of The Trinity ) , as a child !

True , The Three Persons of The Trinity are Father, Son and Holy Spirit but One God and our Father !

Our Lord has said to Apostle Philip - ’ if you have seen Me, you have seen The Father '.

May The Spirit fill us with the love of The Father, that we are moved to do The Father’s will, as our Lord did , in His incarnate human nature and we too call on our Abba , to rejoice ever in that Love !

Glory be to The Father, Son and Holy Spirit !
 
I believe, unlike Our Father, this phrase is rather confusing theologically. If we say Father God we certainly seem to be implying the existence of Son God and Spirit God, which is a troubling approach to the Trinity. I am not saying that those who use this phrase are other than trinitarian but simply that it is a confusing phrase and would think other more established forms are more clear and reliable.

I don’t think anyone else here is confused by this, unless they’re a recent convert from Mormonism.
 
Of course it’s confusing.

Christ is our High Priest, so he’s the only Fr. God. 🙂
