This case is a good argument for the end of public schools or at least making sure they do not get hold of your children. Too many educators are incapable of resisting the pull to dabble in divisive issues that promote their politics. These are open pawns to be used for the promotion of evil in a contest they do not see.

Well said- and that is the cutest picture EVER!

Just as a general question – I am not familiar with the Catholic educational system – but if a curriculum is mandated like this one to teach “diversity” – would private Catholic schools be required also to teach it?

In other words, if the family in the video had their kids in a Catholic school, would their children be exposed to the same material, by law?

So the real reason he was arrested was for tresspassing…when asked to leave he refused…NOT for refusing to have his child instructed about same-sex marrage. BIG DIFFERENCE!

I know a guy who was arrested for trying to withdraw money from his bank. Imagine that…withdrawing money from your own band AND getting arrested for it!!! What’s this country coming to?

Oh, he was trying to withdraw his money at gunpoint…small bit of info I 'forgot" to mention in my original statement.

How does one equate “tresspassing” with refusing to allow one’s child be instructed about same-sex marriage? Where is the cause of truth in that? What does not bearing false witness have to do with anything? I understand NOW.

It depends on the state. Here in Texas, private schools (and this includes homeschools) are only required to teach Math, Reading and civics and the state has no say in how they teach.

In other states, there might be more requirements.

I can not imagine a law passing constitutional muster that would mandate the Catholic Church to teach such material in their schools. If in future generations, gay militants take over the country and mandate something, even garbage can be used as a bad example.

Am I the only one wanting who thinks the term “gay militant” sound a little weird? Like we are going to be overthrown by purse-wielding homosexuals?

Isn’t this the same case the Supreme Court refused to take just this past week?

I cannot disagree. Now that I know more about the story, I would change the word “refusing” to “protesting”.

Can you change the name of a thread? How?

That kind of change only goes out by prayer and fasting.

He was arrested for trespassing in 2005. The Boston Globe story is here.
I agree !!
boston.com 2005/04/29 arrested_father_had_point_to_make:
They also wanted the option to exclude their boy, now 6, from those talks.
Kids are not stupid , when they are with friends ,
or on the streets with whoever , they’ve got ears !!
So , what you gonna do about it ??
Lock your kids up for all those “evil” happenings ??

However , I do understand they don’t want
their kid will be explained all the gory details !!
At the age of 6 , it is absolutely way too soon !!
Alright , but by just telling there are homosexuals
and some of them would like to marry ,
what’s the problem ??
Kids do have eyes & ears , and ask questions in such cases !!

Those are reasonable questions to consider, but most importantly it’s the responsibility of parents to consider those questions, not the schools. That’s the more fundamental issue at hand here: whether parents or the state should be in charge of the moral education of their children.
