Now why would he say “not currently”?

I think we all know the answer to that question.
Yeah it doesn’t take a genius to infer what he is suggesting by using that wording.

Because it is true, I’m guessing.

It should be pointed out that the quotes are simply to indicate he was speaking those exact words, not his tone of voice. The are grammatical quotes, not air quotes.

Does anyone have a video that doesn’t cut out right after he says “not currently”?

Edit: I’ll refrain from passing judgment until I get more context on this and what his explanation was, if there was one.

I won’t live to see this rather dire prediction proven wrong.

Not currently and not ever. If Father Martin wishes to build bridges then he should build bridges to a life centered around Christ and not around trying to get gay marriage to be acceptable.

‘A Catholic ritual’, please note he did not say ‘marriage’ or ‘Sacrament’. A small but important point.

Indeed, there has been discussion elsewhere about the possibility of a non-marriage blessing. Suppose, for the sake of discussion, that two men or two women are best friends, live in chastity, and wish to have their friendship blessed. Problem?

The church CANNOT ever have a ritual that affirms a disordered or evil action. He is trying to weasel in a way. It won’t happen.

Yeah… I’ll wait for more context as well

I found the whole talk. I have not listened to it, but if anyone wants to they can. The video clip from the OP starts around 1:06:30 @ZMystiCat

Ok. Now what would this ritual be about? Is it for a same sex couple who are romantically involved or is it between chaste friendships? If it is for chaste same sex friendships then that has already existed.

Something like that already exists 🙂

Should we have a Catholic Ritual for living together in sin? Should we have a Catholic ritual to celebrate fornication?

Actually, we do have a Catholic Ritual for same sex marriage - it’s called excommunication! We need to use that Ritual a lot more
