Because it is true, I’m guessing.

It should be pointed out that the quotes are simply to indicate he was speaking those exact words, not his tone of voice. The are grammatical quotes, not air quotes.

There are same sex attraction ministries in the United States, but they do not intend to introduce under any circumstances a same-sex marriage sacrament. One example of such a ministry can be found here:

Ok. Now what would this ritual be about? Is it for a same sex couple who are romantically involved or is it between chaste friendships? If it is for chaste same sex friendships then that has already existed.

Actually, we do have a Catholic Ritual for same sex marriage - it’s called excommunication! We need to use that Ritual a lot more
