I just came back from a lecture and meeting with a Catholic missionary in Madagascar, Father Pedro Opeka. I have been so inspired that I decided to share some info about him with you, my brothers and sisters here on CaF. He is a Lazarist priest from Argentina of Slovenian descent who created an organisation called Akamasoa (the good friend) which sustains about thirty thousand people with food, schooling, medical care, and provides work in an area that used to be a dump where people used to live in card-board boxes. Now over 3000 houses have been built.
He reminds me a lot of our pope Francis with his care and love for the poor and his charisma. Interestingly, they are both from Buenos Aires. He was also a Nobel Peace Prize nominee.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you, because I think there are so many people in our Church that are worth to imitate and we don’t even know about them in many cases.
