There is this Jesuit priest at my parish tha opens the Mass with:

“In the name of the Father and the Son and THEIR Holy Spirit.”

That almost sounds like 1 God, 2 Person plus “Their Spirit.”

Is this Christian? Is this acceptable?

That pretty much says it all.

Franciscum,

It sounds like he is trying to incorporate some specific Latin theology that says that the Holy Spirit is the love between the Father and the Son. This is, or at least has been, one way in which the persons of the Trinity have been defined – but that treads very close to heresy. In any event, the words to be used for the sign of the cross are given by the Church and should not be changed.

Nope. He has extremely clear diction.

During the singing of the Gloria, he also substitutes “God’s” for “His” people.

He also does not like to do the lavabo…
