Father's Day - Gift Ideas

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if we could start a thread that could host some great ideas of what to get/ do for our husbands to celebrate this day.

Our husbands who are dads (in any capacity) are truly the leaders, protectors, and providers for our domestic churches. I like taking Father’s Day away from Hallmark, and making it more of a vocational celebration.

I already purchased Fr. Larry Richards’ “Be a Man” and “Scriptural Calendar,” but I’m wondering if anyone has any other ideas on how to celebrate these important men in our lives. They could be tangible presents or ideas for honoring our husbands.

Any ideas are welcome!! Thank you for being the fantastic, supportive community that you all are!

My husband is dad to our two dogs. They have cleverly bought him a lovely leather wash-bag with his initials stamped on it. A practical gift, who’d have known!

I still don’t know how they managed to press the keys on my laptop with those big clumsy paws - and I never gave them my credit card details.

Find one thing that he does well, and write him a little letter about it, revealing the impact it has on you. Really take the time to write well and to write in as nice handwriting as you can. Do this especially with things you know he struggles with and tries very hard to overcome himself to accomplish.

A bottle of Chanel Pour Monsieur and a good whiskey is a nice touch, too.

Thank you for all the suggestions! We actually just wrote letters to each other - we are in Teams of Our Lady, and that was part of our Sit-Down last month! It was amazing!!

Offering up Masses will work nicely! Going out to dinner is a tough one for us, because I have many food restrictions. I definitely like the whiskey idea … and he would, too!

Some things we’ve done in the past:

• Had our children answer questions about what they “think Dad was like, would like, etc.” (eg. What do you think Dad’s favorite toy was when he was your age? What does Dad do when he’s happy? What is Dad’s favorite pastime, etc.).
• Created a canning jar full of “things to do this summer” where we pull out slips of paper with all sorts of ideas on them for those nights when we say, “what should we do?”
• Made a kids’ made dinner with all sorts of “fixin’s”
• Tools
• Coupons (from the kids and from me)

I just feel like I’m coming up dry on other ideas this year - ugh!
