Maybe they all went to the early mass or vigil (like I did) which was full. I had to get the BBQ pit going early - those ribs ain’t gonna cook themselves you know.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads!!! God bless you.

**I went to our 10 am Mass which is when we always go. It was just as packed as normally is, standing room only.😉 **

Perhaps many fathers do not realize that it is a mortal sin to miss Mass without a grave cause, even on fathers day (I would say especially on fathers day).

We are almost never at our home parish on Father’s Day. My husband gets to pick what he wants to do which is almost always boating and fishing at a family cabin. We attend Mass there. The lake was packed, as was the small-town Parish church…try to be optimistic!
Well based on everything that I see here, I’m going to have to guess that everyone was either at:
  • at a different mass
  • at a different parish
Thanks everyone, I do appreciate the feedback, I was actually pretty depressed when I saw the lack of turnout, but I honestly thought the ‘worst’ and did not even consider the alternatives.

I am not sure that is a valid assumption, though it is the charitable assumption. 🙂

Because all fathers are men, and most men that are fathers don’t particularly care for the effeminate liturgy of the Sacrifice of the Mass these days.
“Effeminite”? I am not a father, and never can be, but I hadn’t noticed the current mass as being effeminite. Am I missing something?

Were the Father’s Day brunches sparsely attended? I’ll bet not.

I missed mass again and didnt go to any brunches,
oh well such is life

Does being “on-call” after pulling a regular 8, plus 2hrs OT, then being awakened at 11:45pm, fixing an emergency service call, getting back home at 3:30am, and wanting to get some much needed sleep qualify as “grave cause”?

It sounds as if you really had no way of getting to Mass. Saturday was out, since you were working. Unless there was a really late Mass on Sunday, you probably had no way to go. You may want to mention your circumstances to your priest in Confession, but it does not sound like any mortal sin was committed.

Was there an issue with work, illness, etc.?
well I worked sunday but I can go in late for church
I have other reasons at this point.last mass I went to was Easter and before that was in January
