Dear Brothers and Sisters,

HERE is an article which I found in my ongoing pondering of Pope Francis’ request to have his Petrine Ministry consecrated to Mary under the title of Our Lady of Fatima. The title of this thread is the title of the article, with a subtitle: “A Catholic Russia?”. I found it well worth reading.

I’d be happy to hear your thoughts on the article. Thanks.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

If it’s true, as the article says, “…Let us recall that Russia (so long afflicted by atheistic Communism) has been specifically consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by Pius XII, Paul VI, and Pope John Paul II, who further made a collegial act of consecration with the Roman Pontiff united with the college of Bishops at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome on March 24, 1984, and this just a few years before the unraveling of the Soviet Union.” – then WHERE is the peace Mammon Marie promised? This wasn’t only “world” peace, it was peace within each heart and life. In fact I have read elsewhere (in many places and from credible sources, not internet conspiracy theorists) that Russia was never actually named (per se), and in fact one source said JP II “whispered” or said it “under his breath”. Russia is an enormous threat, it’s getting as bad as it was during the cold war! Putin is a lunatic. I don’t think this consecration has been done, actually. Mary said eventually her “Immaculate Heart would triumph” so we know it will be done, but when? Those who work for the cause of Fatima hope that Pope Francis, by asking the Cardinal of Portugal (twice) to consecrate his Papacy to Our Lady of Fatima, WILL do it. If he travels to Moscow (as has been rumored), then his very presence might do it. I have just returned from Fatima. There is something “unfinished” there, it is palpable. I suggest everyone pray the rosary, every day.

Dear ellzena,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, there is an ongoing fulfillment, it seems to me. I have never been to Fatima, but I believe in the truth of the message and await the fullness of it. In Cardinal Ratzinger’s “Theological Commentary” on the Message of Fatima, the concluding paragraph is very helpful:
…I would like finally to mention another key expression of the “secret” which has become justly famous: “my Immaculate Heart will triumph”. What does this mean? The Heart open to God, purified by contemplation of God, is stronger than guns and weapons of every kind. The fiat of Mary, the word of her heart, has changed the history of the world, because it brought the Saviour into the world—because, thanks to her Yes, God could become man in our world and remains so for all time. The Evil One has power in this world, as we see and experience continually; he has power because our freedom continually lets itself be led away from God. But since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this: “In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33). The message of Fatima invites us to trust in this promise.
The article I posted on “Fatima, Church Unity and the Conversion of Russia” gives the reflections of someone who has converted to Catholicism and sees Mary as a “key” to not only the conversion of Russia but that we may all be one as Jesus prayed in John 17.

Personally, I believe Sister Lucia’s testimony that the Consecration was made. Pope Francis’ request that his Petrine Ministry be consecrated to Our Lady of Fatima is part of the ongoing fulfillment of Our Lady’s words. If individually we are not experiencing “the Peace of Christ” in our own hearts, that is something each of us needs to examine, and pray that we may come into more fully, by His Grace. Yes, I also urge everyone to pray the Rosary, if they are not already praying that beautiful and powerful pray every day.

I believe the consecration of Russia was done in 1984 & we saw the removal of the Berlin wall & freedom of religion was put into effect. I also believe there is secret sects that have taken power in all control thru the UN with there wealth & power,as indicated by various prophesies. Research the various sites on the web but be careful of the many lies & attacks against the church. The truth will set you free.

Dear djbelo,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I agree – we need to be very careful of websites which claim the name “Catholic” but then can attack the Church. In the “Theological Commentary” of then Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Emeritus), these words give me much hope:
…since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this: “In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33). Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
Jesus I trust in You!
