I’m confused.
It seems that this discussion is about whether or not the Pope and Bishops validly consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as required by Fatima, right?
But . . .
Fatima is a private revelation, right?
Private revelation is not binding on the Church, right?
The Church’s role in private revelations consists solely of determining that the revelation does not contradict the deposit of faith, right?
Then why would the Pope, or any other Catholic, be required to follow any commands or requests resulting from that private revelation?
Wouldn’t this contradict the doctrine that public revelation ended with the apostles?
Just curious.

This is probably the most reasonable and correct info. I have seen on this thread so far!! Just imagine if a good majority of Catholics would be vigilant in their prayer life (especially saying a daily rosary) and would be making sacrifices (especially on Wed. and Fri.) what a different world we might live in?? Now THAT is something that The Blessed Mother would honor as it would make She and Her Son very happy!! Talk about the power to change the world!!!:yup:

The answer is that, technically, there is no obligation to obey the Fatima requests; since they are in fact private revelations. Private revelations are not part of the deposit of faith and thus there is no obligation under pain of sin to believe in them.
However, there is an obligation to prudently consider each and every private revelation, and not to carelessly dismiss its message on the grounds that it comes from a mere private revelation. So, if the Fatima message is that we must make the five first Saturdays, pray the daily Rosary, and have the Pope consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in union with all the bishops of the world; why not just do it, regardless of whether Fatima is authentic or not? It certainly couldn’t hurt.
Also, while there is no strict obligation under pain of mortal sin to believe in Fatima, we’d be fools not to, given the spectacular miracles associated with it.
It would be well to recall what happened to France after it was supposed to be consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

So let’s not ignore the Fatima message in favor of a technical loophole: that nobody has to believe it. Let’s not fool ourselves by thinking it can be safely ignored.

So instead of repeating a bit of what I have written here, I’m simply pasting the whole message from the FATIMA CRUSADER – summer 2015 issue which is so much more perfectly written as a request from Our Lady, Herself; and this in relation to the present situation of our modern world and the Pope’s coming visit to WAshington, DC in September.

“O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee, my God, my God, I love Thee, in the Most Blessed Sacrament.”
“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need.” Are these prayers familiar to you so far? There is one more prayer that was taught by Our Lady:
“O, Jesus, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for sins against the Immaculate Heart, I offer this sacrifice to Thee.”
These are the prayers that the Blessed Virgin taught at Fatima. There are two more prayers that were taught through the Message of Fatima, and these prayers in fact, were taught by Our Lord Himself.
Sister Lucy was in Rianjo, Spain in 1931 praying for the conversion of Portugal, Spain, and Russia and Our Lord spoke to her as she was praying. He said,
“You console Me a great deal by asking Me for the conversion of those poor nations. Ask it also of My Mother, frequently saying, ‘Sweet Heart of Mary, be the salvation of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the whole world’.”
He dictated another prayer at the same time.
“By Your pure and Immaculate Conception O Mary, obtain for me the conversion of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the entire world”.
After He dictated these two prayers, Our Lord then gave one of the most terrifying prophesies and rebukes that He has ever given in our time. He said:
“Make it known to My ministers that given they follow the example of the King of France in delaying the execution of My command, that they will follow him into misfortune. It will never be too late to have recourse to Jesus and Mary.”
What is Our Lord saying here? He says: “Make it known”. Up to now, most people promoting the Message of Fatima do not make this known. They protest that it is too embarrassing. But Our Lord still insists, “Make it known”. We too, you and I are obliged to make it known in whatever little way we can. Make it known to whom? To “My ministers”.
Which ministers particularly? To the bishops and to the Holy Father because it is the Pope and the bishops who have, like the King of France, been given a command to personally fulfill. “Make it known to My ministers, that given that they follow the example of the King of France …”
Who is the King of France that Our Lord is referring to? That requires a little explanation. The King of France referred to is Louis XIV, XV, XVI, and the Kings subsequent to them, even King Louis XVII, the poor young king.
In 1689, the Sacred Heart of Jesus gave a command to the King of France to consecrate France, not the world, not Russia, but France, to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On the 17th of June, this command was given, and the Kings of France and their confessors thought they knew better than God and they chose to ignore the Sacred Heart.
The confessors in question were Jesuit confessors, and as Frщre Michel and Frщre Franчois point out in The Whole Truth About Fatima, the Jesuit order was particularly punished by its suppression 60 to 70 years after that because they did not obey the command of the Sacred Heart.
And what happened to the Kings of France? One hundred years later to the day, on the 17th of June, 1789, the king was stripped of his power by the Third Estate and four years later his head was chopped off on the guillotine. “Make it known to My ministers, that given they follow the example of the King of France, in delaying the execution of My command …”
What request is He referring to here? The request for the consecration of Russia, “that like him, they will follow him into misfortune”. We are not being loyal to Our Lord, we are not being loyal to the Blessed Virgin, and we are not being loyal to the Holy Father or bishops by hiding this information from them.

I agree, it’s not pleasant, it is not a pleasant piece of information at all. As I was telling an archbishop about this, I could see fear and terror cross his face. We shouldn’t do this for the effect, but rather because Our Lord tells us to make it known. Because sooner or later, they will finally realize that Our Lady of Fatima means what She says, literally.
It becomes apparent more and more, even though the newspapers and other daily news media try to tell you differently, that as the prophecy of Our Lady of Fatima warns us, the whole world, including this country, will be subjected to Russian tyranny. On July l5, l946, William Thomas Walsh, a Professor at Manhattanville College in New York, interviewed Sister Lucy and asked her, “At what stage of the prophecy are we into today?” Sister Lucy replied, “We are in the stage of Russia spreading her errors throughout the world.”
He then asked her, “Does that mean that Russia will conquer the whole world?” Sister Lucy answered, “Yes.” He thought that she did not understand the question so he repeated it again through his interpreter and added, “Does that include the United States of America?” Sister Lucy again affirmed, “Yes.”
As Pope John Paul II has said, the message of Our Lady of Fatima is more relevant and more urgent today than when Our Lady first gave it in 1917.
Already the errors of Naziism and Communism have invaded this country by the kind of things that took place in Waco, whereby banned gas, forbidden to be used in international warfare, was used on the citizens of the United States.
Our Lady of Fatima did not come to frighten us. She came to help us, to warn us. We are foolish if we try to pretend that these things will not take place by simply ignoring them.
Speaking out is an act of loyalty
And we are just as foolish when we listen to those who try to make us believe we are disloyal to the Holy Father for repeating Our Lord and Our Lady’s urgent Fatima warning.
It is important that we all understand what loyalty is. Loyalty is not keeping silent when your best friend is running towards an open mine field and you fail to warn him of the danger he is in for fear of distressing his emotions.
That’s not being loyal. Our Lord tells us that if you want to be loyal to Me, you should tell My ministers. I would add that if you want to be loyal to His ministers you must tell them.
Tell them that what happened to the King of France will happen to them. His head was chopped off because they ignored the command of Our Lord. It may not be exactly through the guillotine, but it will be some violent death or similar kind of punishment.

Our Lord laments this delay of 64 years since His first command for the consecration of Russia was given, and it’s 62 years ago that Our Lord made this lament. Despite this disobedience, this delay, He tells us it is never too late to have recourse to Jesus and Mary.
Even though we are all on this ship called the Barque of Peter, this ship (the Catholic Church) has been invaded, and although we have a Divine promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against it, nevertheless, it will suffer terribly, and is now suffering terrible internal problems already.
Our Lord tells us even if the Captain, even if the officers of the ship are not doing their duty, we are still obliged to do our part. He says to us, “It is never too late for you to have recourse to Jesus and Mary.” And this reminds us of the promise given us through Sister Lucy that “Our Lady will protect Her dear ones.”
I am reminded here of Psalm 90, verse 7, “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come near you.” If you consider ten thousand at my right side, and a thousand over here, and I’m the only one left standing how can that happen, except by Divine providence. God, Who is all-powerful can do that, even though ten thousand around you fall.
And so it is never too late to have recourse to Jesus and Mary. But let us also remember our duty, out of charity, to at least make it known to His ministers … the Pope and the bishops. They will end up in a similar manner to what happened to the King of France as a direct consequence of their ignoring and disobeying Our Lord’s request. And even though it was the 3rd King of France after this that was executed publicly, his predecessors also suffered before their deaths in other ways.

In his book, “The Awesome Fatima Consecrations”, Father Trinchard brings out a second description of this message of Rianjo that Our Lord gives to Sister Lucy.
“Regarding the matter of Russia, I think it would please Our Lord very much if you were to make the Holy Father comply with His wishes.”
Sister Lucy then referring to Rianjo says:
“About three years ago Our Lord was very displeased because His request had not been attended to and I made this fact known to the bishop in a letter”,
Sister Lucy then recalls in writing:
“Later on by means of an interior communication, Our Lord complainingly said to me, ‘They did not want to heed My request. Like the King of France they will repent, and do so, but it will be late, Russia will already have spread her errors throughout the world causing wars and persecutions of the Church, the Holy Father will have much to suffer’.”
If we take this thundering prophecy of Our Lord seriously, it is not surprising nor hard to understand why there is confusion about this request for the consecration of Russia, why there are fake Sister Lucy interviews, why there are bogus letters, and why other so-called Fatima magazines are spreading this kind of disinformation.
Our Lord’s merciful warning and solution strike at the very core of the diabolical plan to snare the souls of the world into hell for eternity.
What can we do? How can we make Our Lord’s command known? The Holy Father must know he has our support. It is the one thing yet that is open to us; to make it known that there are tens of thousands, in fact there are more than five million people who have signed petitions for the consecration of Russia.
This public campaign from the lay people is having a definite effect in the Vatican. Petitions in that number are not insignificant. It may not be enough to swing the bureaucrats inthe Vatican to listen to Our Lady of Fatima, but it has not gone unnoticed.
Indeed, it’s not just for Father Gruner or The Fatima Crusader to make it known but it’s for other people too. No doubt if there were more souls cooperating with God’s Grace we all could do even more.
It doesn’t take much to pick up the phone to call the Vatican and leave a message, and it doesn’t take much to do the same to your own Chancery office. It doesn’t take much to tell your friends to do the same. It must be crystal clear in your mind, that this is the only way in the long run. That is not to say that in the short term we shouldn’t take other precautions and other actions, but in the long run the proper consecration of Russia is the only way out of the circumstances that we find ourselves in.
We are all in grave danger
If only you could be convinced of that. If only I had the ability to make that clear to you. Look at the house that you have paid your mortgage on for the last 20 or 30 years. What you and your family have worked for can all be lost because of one thing, all because the consecration of Russia is not done. And worse, the whole world including the United States of America will be enslaved; that part of it that is not annihilated!
Remember that those Russian missiles are still pointed right here and the proportion of what they have is about 3 or 5 to 1 in firepower. You may not be aware that Ogarkov, a brilliant military genius of the Soviet Union wrote an article calling for an all-out military surprise, unprovoked, nuclear attack on this country, in which he estimated that in the first 30 minutes of the battle, 135 million Americans would die.
He wrote that in 1982, and for his military genius and promoting ideas like this, Gorbachev personally promoted him to the highest military post in the whole of Russia. You might be surprised but it is true. Gorbachev has done that. And Yeltsin is no better.
Though the Russian leaders carry on some sort of drama, some sort of show, some sort of fairy tale for us to watch, their intention does not change. If you look at what they do and not what they say, you will see that they have continued to put themselves in a position of military power, as well as economic power, so as to achieve world domination.
That ties in perfectly with Our Lady of Fatima’s message that in fact, if we don’t listen and more precisely, if the Holy Father does not make that act of consecration in time, the whole world will be enslaved by Russia.
What that means in the practical order is that if you wanted to travel from one town to the next, you would need an internal passport. If you wanted to change jobs, you would need permission to do so. Many things that you take for granted as part of life, are not part of life in Soviet terms.
In China, if you have more than one child, you are forced to abort them. Up to now, people could always flee to the United States or another free country, but when the Communists take over the world there will be no place to flee to!

At Fatima, She said of Herself, “Only She can help you.” The Curщ‚ of Ars said, “I know a man more powerful than God”, and of course we all know that no one is more powerful than God, but the Curщ‚ of Ars nevertheless said, “I know a man more powerful than God, he is the man who prays, he can make God Who said no, say yes”.
Obviously, the answer to that contradiction is that the man who prays is only able to pray because God gives him the grace to pray. Nevertheless, it is a dramatic way of pointing out that prayer is the most powerful force we have in the world.
Similarly, when Our Lady says, “Only I can help you”, in a certain sense only She can help us, not because God could not, but because He has willed it to be through Her intercession.
And why is that? St. Augustine explains to us that there are certain graces, certain favors that God in His mercy and His love for us, wants to give us. All good things, as you know, come from God. He wants to give us these special graces, but will not except through the intercession of the saints. This is because God, in His wisdom knows that we, in our pride, will somehow think that we earned or deserved the grace through our own merits.
God knows we don’t deserve the grace of freedom and world peace but He nevertheless wants to give this grace to us. However, He will not give it to usexcept through the merits and intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He wants the whole world to know that it is through Her merits, not through my merits, not through your merits, not through the whole world’s merits, not even all the Popes’ and the Bishops’ merits but only through the merits of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I have posted these lengthy replies because I just received the last FATINA CRUSADER Summer 2015 edition in which the untimely sudden death of Father Nicholas Grunner on April 29th of 2015 was posted. May his memory be Eternal! Especially his deep and ardent devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and to Her Message.
Please forgive this insistence upon the need to hear this Message today, and to truly “LISTEN” to its request with our whole hearts and lives! . . . All this for the glory of God!
Let us from the depths of our hearts and lives Pray the Rosary and Contemplate the Mysteries of the Gospel and the life of Jesus and Mary, and our own in response to the GOOD NEWS proclaimed through the world. As Jesus, Himself spoke, His Words will be spread and lived throughout the whole world . . . Let’s personally begin today to repent of our laxity and slowness in following Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Way the Truth and the Life!

I wonder if anyone can help me in my search.
At Confession yesterday, I was told that Our Lady told Sr Lucy that more souls go to hell for missing Sunday Mass than… The priest couldn’t remember to what the Blessed Mother was comparing it.
Can anyone give me a link about it?
