Fatima Devotion and being in a state of Grace

It’s the first Saturday here and I’m preparing to start the five first Saturday devotion to Our Lady. But I had this doubt… I am in a state of mortal sin so I definitely need to go to Confession before I recieve Communion. But what about the other two acts- praying the Rosary and meditating for 15 minutes? Can I do them before I go to confession or should I wait till I do it?

P. S. : If this post seems scrupulous, please be kind. I’m recovering and it’s really not helping if people keep saying I need to see a priest. I have seen many priests, counsellors and doctors, if you really wanna know. The only thing that has helped me is learning Catechism.
 
In some parishes (churches/chapels/monasteries/convents) the first Saturday devotion is organized. Meaning there are extra confessors in the morning before the mass, and both the meditation and prayer of the rosary are done before mass and guided by some more experienced that also participate.

Can you find a Carmelite community near where you live? Even if no Carmelites are near you some community is bound to follow the devotion and if you find them things will be easier. You can write a Carmelite community in your country, they will probably know where the closest church is with a community organized at practicing the devotion.

Normally you confess before praying and meditating and mass. Depends on possibility, I have confessed in the middle of the meditation and rosary because there was a queue waiting for confession. Leaving me to finish the rosary afterwards.
 
CS if you suffer from scruples CAF is not the place to find help.
You will get amateur and contradictory advice and nobody here knows your situation.

You need a regular spiritual director not anonymous confessions to a variety of different priests.
We understand the scrupulous find it difficult to follow the advice of a single person who knows them but prefer anonymity and constantly question the advice they are given by going to others.

You’re allowed to pray and meditate while in a state of mortal sin. In fact, the Church would likely encourage you to do so, although they would also encourage you to go to confession and get out of the state of mortal sin ASAP. And as you noted, you must go to confession before you receive communion.

With respect to just the prayer and meditation (not the communion), the only consequence is you cannot earn any indulgence for your prayer or mental prayer (meditation likely counts as mental prayer) while not in a state of grace. So if you want to try to earn the indulgence, get in a state of grace first and then pray.
 
Don’t worry about it @cookie-san just go to the devotion and follow through.
