Fatima/Russia vs Hitler

I believe in the Marian apparitions…the established ones at least - Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje, Guadalupe - but I haven’t read up on all of them yet.

In reading the boards here there’s a thread about the Third Secret of Fatima and the response provided really good links to read of the Secrets themselves.

The first secret was about Hell and the power of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (praying for those they saw saved several of the souls), the second secret dealt with Russia’s power/threat through Communism and war, the third dealt with the death of the Pope (which was thwarted by Mary when our Holy Father was shot at).

That all this was revealed to the children in the early 1900s, to the church by the mid 1900s and the events played out before the turn of the century is truly fascinating, but it caused me to wonder why of all the evils the world experienced in that century we were not forewarned about Hitler’s reign of terror.

I figure Russia’s power could have been far worse than what we experienced had Mary not warned us about it and called us to pray for their consecration so by responding to her call we did save our world to a certain degree, but in saving the world of communism we overlooked a more grave persecution taking place in the same time period.

Has anyone come across any saints who were called to pray for the end of Hitler’s regime or anything like that?

I dont know about that…but I recall reading that…and please forgive if I have the wrong mystic here…that Theresa Neuman (sp?) actually sent word to Hitler AND Mussolini that if they didnt change their ways they would end in ruin… if anyone else can provide more detail or if I have the wrong mystic, please correct me. I also recall another mystic (cant remember name) I have many books on this…that even Napoleon was informed to amend his ways before it was too late… so yeah, I do believe that God works thru mystics to inform those in power on occasion.

We, as a democratic society are tasting the errors spread through communism, not even knowing that it was communistic! That is the sad part. I am in the process of researching the communistic 'errors' so warned by Our Lady.

Has anyone come across any saints who were called to pray for the end of Hitler's regime or anything like that?

I am sure many people prayed for the end of the terror of Hitler, and many unknown saints were martyred for helping their brothers and sisters. During my studies of Russian culture, I came across a newly-beatified saint in the Russian Orthodox Church, Mother Maria Skobtsova who was horrified of the Bolshevick War, became a refugee in Paris and ended being tried by the German Gestapo to death at Ravensbruck. At first she helped the Russian refugees, as there were many, then the French poor and then ultimately the Jews. We know why she was hiding the Jews, and close to death due to starvation, she took the place of a Jewish woman or stood by her (this is not clear yet), because the woman was hysterical and Maria showed her not to be afraid. She died March 31st, 1945.

Anyway, I am babbling.

YinYangMom, apropos of absolutely nothing, I don’t believe that Medjugorge is an approved apparition.

I’m not sure if many people remember that Hitler put 2700 hundred priests in Dachau alone, not counting martyrs in other camps, such as St. Maximilian and St. Edith Stein.

YinYangMom, apropos of absolutely nothing, I don’t believe that Medjugorge is an approved apparition.

It ain’t - in fact the local Bishop, with the full backing of Rome, last year banned any sort of official pilgrimage to Medj, though of course private individuals and groups may still visit.

Note that I started this thread back in '04 before the rulings on Medjugorge were set. I do realize it is no longer supported.

I was unaware Stalin and Lenin were Goliaths compared to Hitler’s David.
