Sr. Lucia of Fatima was told by Our Lady that if people don’t mend their ways, there would be another war soon, worse than WWI. In 1938, an amazing aurora borealis was seen all over the northern hemisphere, and Sr. Lucia affirmed that the aurora was the sign Our Lady said was the precursor to WWII.

My mother saw this aurora when she was six years old. She remembers the neighbors out in front of their houses, looking up at the sky and talking in whispers, “Is this the end of the world?”. Seeing the fear in the adult’s faces really made an impact on her.

I was curious to know what this aurora looked like, and so I found these two pictures along with an eyewitness description:

"On the 25 January 1938 I finished work at 7 pm, and as I cycled home I became aware of crowds of people looking skywards, I looked up and got a shock, the whole sky was a mass of colour from horizon to horizon, brilliant, shimmering rainbow colours were rippling upwards, we were surrounded by a curtain of bright colours continually rising all around higher and higher. They ascended until they entered a funnel high above the earth and on to infinity. I was conscious of remarks from people standing, all equally amazed. Nobody knew what was the cause, nobody had experienced this before. This wondrous spectacle shone all night. The following night it shone again but not so bright and the night after it was gone." David Gray, Scotland.

Amazing and breathtaking.

I want to go so far north one day that I see the Aurora Borealis – but I’d rather go to *it *than have it come to me! 🙂

boomerang,

Thank you for posting that. Very interesting! I saved it in my favorites and would like to show it to others.

Seeing something like that (and not being able to run inside and google “what is in the sky”) would have scared me, too! Thanks for sharing. Very interesting.

Ironically, the people who believed that the aurora was a portent of disaster were dismissed by the newspaper articles of the day as ignorant or superstitious. It turns out that those people were right.

I recall reading that it ocurred at a period of very low solar activity; so was most inexplicable.

Good info! Where did that come from?
I first saw/heard this on an old world war II documentary, I then read it in some 1990’s prophetic book which was mostly about Marian apparitions amongst a few other things.

There is a book online where this can be read too.
