  4. When Worlds Collide
  5. After Worlds Collide
  6. War of the Worlds (NOT the Tom Cruise version)
  7. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
  8. Atlantis the Lost Continent
  9. The Thing (I was terrified seeing this one).
  10. The Blob
Does this count Hammer films? Can we open it up to the early 60’s too - all those Ray Harryhausen movies.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
The Day The Earth Stood Still
When Worlds Collide
Invaders From Mars
War Of The Worlds

I’ll second “Invaders from Mars” and “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.

I think it’s from the early 60s, not the 50s, but I’ll add “The Tingler”.

THE MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD (1957)
I work with fisheries biologists who study the Salton Sea. One of them brought in a DVD of this movie and I borrowed it. Quite clever! imdb.com/title/tt0050722/

No, there was another movie After Worlds Collide. What happens when they land on the other planet. I’ve seen both.
Any good? Can’t find it on IMDB. I hope it looked better than that cheesy painting at the end of the first one!

The Day the Earth Stood Still (Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!)
Little Shop of Horrors
The Outer Limits
series
War of the Worlds (notice how many times they mention coffee and donuts) 😃

The Day The Earth Stood Still is one of the best movies ever made, IMO! It should be required for school kids. GREAT lessons. I kind of wish they would do a re-make, only I wouldn’t try to re-make that movie. I would set it in today’s world and have Klatu and Gort try again and become HUGE media stars. Would the movie end the same way as the old one?!!!

Forbidden Planet
Plan 9 From Outer Space (best worst movie ever made 🙂 )
Star Trek Wrath of Khan
Day of the Triffids
Mars Attacks!!! (hysterically funny)
the Simpsons episode where Homer becomes an astronaut 😉

That would be a thread on 50s horror films. The lesson of hammer films was the more cleavage you showed the more likely you were to be bitten by a vampire.

Robinson Crusoe on Mars
The Monolith Monsters
The Incredible Shrinking Man (this one is GREAT!)
Tarantula
Them!
The Tingler

I love a good monster movie! The best of the modern ones are
Tremors and Eight Legged Freaks.

The Thing That Couldn’t Die
The Brain That Wouldn’t Die
Attack Of The 50ft. Woman

I know I’ll think of more later!

Four out of six not from the fifties! Tsk, tsk! :tsktsk: 😉
