Argh:
I forget I’m talking to old people
ROFL :rotfl:

Well I just got the pleasure of seeing “Howl’s Moving Castle” on STARZ a couple of days ago and it has become my new favorite because the animation is superb and I really liked the story too. I used to love Sailor Moon when I was younger, but I haven’t seen it in years.

All time favourite for me is still Neon Genesis Evangelion. Nothing has ever come close to that series in making one think. Another favourite of mine is the Vision of Escaflowne. Of course, I cannot forget Oh! My Goddess! as well, and To Heart. I love all types of anime, from majou shoujo anime to mecha, and anything in between. Sailormoon is also a big favourite of mine, as well as anything Gundam (except G Gundam).

My favorite Anime are:

Old: Trigun, Chobits, Outlaw Star, Naruto (yes it’s still on, but it’s been around for years), Gensoumaden Saiyuki, Azumanga Daioh, Rune Soldier Louie, The SoulTaker, Betterman, Gatekeepers, Serial Experiment Lain, Cromartie High School, GunGrave, and, especially, Slayers. I like Sesshoumaru from InuYasha, but that show has pacing issues.

New: Solty Rei, Elemantal Gelade (or is it Gerade?), Black Cat, Peacemaker Kurogane, Kiddy Grade, Shrine of the Morning Mist, R.O.D the TV (we got the DVDs of this for my Dad last year), and especially GunXSword.

Manga are: Chobits, xxxHolic, Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle, Suki: A Like Story (made me cry, and yes, I’m a dude), Bleach, Naruto, GetBackers, King of Bandit Jing, Vampire Doll, FullMetal Alchemist, Resurrection Princess. I will admit to a guilty pleasure in my little sister’s Ouran High Host Club collection, as well.

Manhwa (that’s Korean manga):
Heavenly Executioner Chi Woo (aka Chi U Cheon E)
Chronicles of the Cursed Sword
NOW
King of Hell
Explosive Deliveryman (?!)
Dokebi (ought to be Dokkaebi) Bride, although mainly just for research purposes.

I would like to slap whoever made Trinity Blood: why don’t you just tell a decent Heian-era ghost story/political thriller, instead of writing “Pope” for “mikado” and “vampire” for “onryou”, and sticking the whole thing in a dumbed-down version of Vampire Hunter D’s future? No be-nanomachined pseudo-vampire is as cool as Abe no Seimei.

Azumanga Daioh. And Yotsuba. Cute cute cute cute cute.
Victorian Romance Emma isn’t out in the States yet except as a manga retitled “Emma”, but that’s also really awesome.
I really don’t like most of the exaggeratedly Japanese manga, except for Ouran High School Host Club, because at the same time as it’s being your stereotypical “male harem” shojo anime, it’s also making fun of it. And in the manga, the boys are pretty. (Not so much in the show.)

I forgot to add Bleach. This series has me hooked, and I wait for each episode every afternoon. Hopefully I could add this to my video collection as well.

You like the anime, you’ll love the manga: as is usually the case (cept with Black Cat) the manga is better than the anime.

What’s your favorite anime series/movie/manga?

I’m currently on an “Inuyasha” kick and I have yet to find a better drawn/animated movie than “Ghost in the Shell”.

Yuu Yuu Hakusho
Fullmetal Alchemist
Hikaru no Go
Konjiki no Gasshu Beru (known here in the excruciatingly bad dub as ugh Zatch Bell)
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Card Captor Sakura
Maison Ikkoku
Inu Yasha

… and of course, Sailor Moon and Rurouni Kenshin… 😛

Check my web site. I’ve written about anime for Gilbert Magazine.

Yes, I also like Rurouni Kenshin very much. It was shown here in the Philippines as Samurai X. Loved the series, and I wouldn’t mind watching it for the fourth time.

I have RK on disk, and the manga up to v. 17.

(Didn’t mention manga, but they are basically the same as the anime I like.)

Oh, and the entire Miyazaki catalog. ^___^

I’m not interested in watching anything downbeat or nihilistic. Too much of that in the regular media already.

The only anime I know much about is Miyazaki’s, and I love all his movies I’ve seen, but I think the one that impressed me most was Spirited Away (this might be because I saw it on the big screen and watched Princess Mononoke at home). I most recently watched Nausicaa and the Valley of the Winds (rented from Netflix).

Spirited Away is a wonderful movie. Seriously. It’s got the wonderful grotesquerie of Japanese fantasy creatures, and it’s got Chihiro. I loved it.

I didn’t think I would like Nausicaa (it seemed like it might be too tree-huggerish) but it turned out to be a gripping heroic saga.

My favorite animes are:
Ronin Warriors
Full Metal Panic!(and the spin-off series FMP? Fumoffu)
Naruto
Princess Mononoke
Castle in the Sky
My Neighbor Totoro(first one I ever saw)

Manga:
Fushigi Yuugi
FMP!
Van Von Hunter(killer of all evil…stuff)

I just started reading Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, is it any good?

Anime - “japanime” a Japanese style of cartoon/comic book (“manga”) drawing and animation for children and adults. Not necessarily made in Japan or by a Japanese person.

Popular TV series in America:
Cowboy Beebop
Witch Hunter Robin
Full Metal Alchemist
Pokemon
Dragonball
Yu-Yu Hakashu
Mobile Suit Gundum

Popular Movies:
Akira
Ghost int the Shell
Ninja Scrolls
Metropolis

NOT hentai, you perverts…but typically anime isnt for young kids. Much of the anime we see in America is meant for adults and the Japanese typically have a different notion of what is an acceptable level of violence (ie blood) and sexual content (ie nakedness). But pretty much anything that bad is edited for American TV viewers.

Movies/Series **not to **let your young (how young is up to you of course, but probly pre-high school) kids see:

-Read or Die- themes of homosexuality, some violence and language
-Ghost in the Shell - lots of nudity, graphic violence, language
-Akira- freaky, violence, language
Cowboy Beebop- drug use, violence, some sexual themes
  • Ninja Scrolls- lots of graphic violence, language
Movies/Series that are probly ok:

-pokemon
-Princess Mononoke- check movie rating
-Spirited Away - check movie rating
What? No My Neighbor Totoro on the probably OK list? Come on, that one is so kid friendly it demands to be put there!
Anyway, I love anime. I am definitely what anime fans call an otaku. My fave titles are Inuyasha, .hack//sign, and Tenchi Universe

Some children’s anime that I like include Pokemon and Hamtaro. What can I say, they’re kawaii (cute). 😃 Comedy, I like Dragon Half and Eyeshield 21.

I read the first two Tsubasa. It’s OK if you like shonen. It’s VERY shonen.

Now I don’t appreciate any anime, but some years ago I was a fan of Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon, etc. But now, I don’t want to know of anime for anything!

Ghost in the Shell (movies and TV show), Cowboy Bebop (Ditto)… um there might be 1 or 2 more, I’ll post 'em if I remember 🙂

My current favorites are:
Darker Than Black
Lovely Complex
History’s Strongest Disciple, Kenichi
Reideen
Kaibutsu Oujo
Initial D
Rurouni Kenshin

Former favorites:
Victorian Romance: Emma (season 1 & 2)
Ergo Proxy
Blood+
Inu Yasha
Hell Girl
Ghost Hunt

In case none of you ever heard of these titles, it’s because they’re either only in Japan (for now) or only on DVD.
