YAY! I DECENT THREAD FINALLY!
ok (major major major major queen of all anime freaks here!)
where do i start…

-My first favourite anime was Pokemon (those guys are just so adorable)
-I then proceeded to fall in love with Maison Ikkoku (old takahashi work, but still really great)
-Then my next, and still current, anime love was Mahou Sensei Negima (I never really got into the spinoff, Negima!?)
Truth is, I started wearing bells in my hair ages before i started watching it, and then i saw the main character wearing them and had a coronary 😉
-Ah my Goddess is just such a great and adorable anime. its pretty safe for the younger teens to. (Dont worry devout Catholics, its not trying to undermine your biblical system. its innocent.)
-And my ALL TIME MEGA FAVOURITE Anime series is NARUTO!!!
It.Is.The.Best.Ever. (seriosly people, you should catch afew episodes on youtube)
I kinda look like Tenten, and again, i started wearing the panda style double buns before i saw here, then proceeded to have another massive coronary 😉 Im also pretty nifty with a katana and throwing knives 😃

My favourite Anime movies are:
Spirited away
Howls moving castle (Im a major Hayao Miyazaki fan)

ahhh… I could talk about anime ALLLLL DAY, but I’ll spare you the pain… 😉

Maison Ikkoku! Pokemon! Sugeee! 👍

You know you are otaku when you can recite the Team Rocket motto in Japanese. 😃

Oh wow I totally forgot about Cowboy Bebop, I LOVED that show!! I Used to have the manga for it but I don’t know where it is anymore!

Death Note and DNAngel by far are the best.

Oh, and Death Note is coming to Adult Swim on Saturday, October 20 at midnight! I won’t be able to watch it, i’ve got a band competition.

There is very little that beats Ghost In The Shell. Mamoru Oshii all the way.

Maison Ikkoku - to me is the best love story I’ve ever read/watched. Simply because I can relate to the characters.

Cased Closed (aka Detective Conan) was also one I enjoyed. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints and life changes I have stopped collecting the manga… In fact, I think I may have completely stopped collecting manga altogether.

Wow, I have so many manga/anime I like, it would take all day or more for me to remember and write them all down. I think one of, if not the, best anime movies is Princess Monoke though, it’s downright amazing. Hellsing is also very good, and they finally got an anime that’s going to follow the manga, not to say the anime was bad, just short and I would like to see the manga animated. Even though they kind of show Catholic as fanatics, Anderson is shown to have a conscience, and you can’t help but love him and the rest of Section XIII. And even though Maxwell is insane, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him when I read volume 8.

Haven’t seen Maison Ikkoku, but I have seen Hana Yori Dango, and I do love that one, as well as Oh! My Goddess!.
Neon Genesis Evangelion made no sense. Too bad it didn’t have a good story behind the art.
Evangelion makes a lot of sense once one watches episodes 25 and 26 first; strange as that might seem, the last two episodes answer the whole premise of the series (barring of course Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion). Everything makes sense when one sees the last two episodes first, and begin to understand why Misato always tell Shinji to never run away.

Sorry if I post too much, I just love anime.

I just discovered Shakugan no Shana. It’s not the best but I get attracted to any anime with a katana involved. 😛

Negima was ok… it got boring on the second season.

Let’s see… the latest one I’m watching also is Myself; Yourself… another high school romance type of anime. Only seen the first episode.

Yeah, Death Note is awesome, I heard it was coming to adult swim but I wasn’t sure of the date. I’m almost done with the manga too, I’m on volume 11.

On a purely random note, Vol. 13 of the Yuu Yuu Hakusho manga arrived. In some ways the anime is better. But why must they take months to release a new volume? 😛

I like Ranma 1/2, Ah My Goddess, Sailor Moon (Japanese version), Tenshi Muyo, All Purpose Cat girl Nuko Nuko, and Lain

Jugoku shoujo and Death Note are both really good one’s. They aren’t necessarily Christian in fact they center around a Buddhist/Shinto mix based theology. Both have to deal with judgement and revenge

Jugoku Shoujo means The Hell girl. She grew up in early Japan when it was a common practice to sacrafice young girls to the mountain so there would be a good harvest. She was literally burried alive and she swore vengeance on the village and She resurrected and burned the village to the ground. The god of Hell confronts her telling her that she has sinned in getting her vengeance therefore she must go to Hell but he offers her an alternative, in order to save the souls of her loved ones she must ferry the grudges of others to Hell. Mortals can contact the Hell girl on her special website only at midnight where she gives them a straw doll with a red string around it’s neck signifying the person they want to get vengeance upon. Once you pulled the string, you enter into a contract in which you will ALSO go to Hell after you die and you will get a mark on your chest to show for it
Most of those who are sent to hell are bad people but some are not which makes it vengeance not justice.

Deathnote incorporates a similar theme in which a self righteous bright student named Light happens to find a notebook that when one writes the names of a person whilst you think about that person, they will die in 6 minutes unless specified otherwise. The death god dropped it on Earth because he was bored and he does not intervene with what mortals do with the notebook. Light uses this notebook to kill off ppl he deems evil (mostly criminals) and claims to be the god of the new world. However any one who uses the deathnote will go to neither Heaven nor Hell when they die. Because ppl are dying buy the bucketfull, a massive investigation is called into play. However no one knows that the young man responsible actually is working on the investigation and fooling everyone.

Whoa. Sounds like that one has parallels to Yuu Yuu Hakusho, the only anime that ever inspired me to write a fanfic. Urameshi Yuusuke also has a run-in with the lord of the underworld, but in this case he’s sent back to life in order to protect and serve.

I’m about halfway done, and it’s looooong. 😛

Please read Disclaimer in Prelude.

YOUNGER, MORE INNOCENT DAYS

“Are we suspects now?”

(To be continued: More than one secret will be revealed.)

Jigoku Shoujo, both season 1 and 2, is so twisted. I kept watching anyway. It’s a really good horror anime. I never got into Death Note though.

For those who watch Jigoku Shoujo or Hell Girl, have you noticed some Christian themes? In one episode, the assistant of Enma Ai, the old man said ‘the first would be last and the last would be first’.

The weird thing about them is, they are the ones who bring the cursed ones to hell, but it seems that they don’t want people to there at all.

in another episode, the old man told a schoolgirl to throw her trash in the proper place. This means that he wants her to be good.

Of course, the concept of hell in the series isn’t exactly the same as our Catholic belief, but the story is interesting.

Well in Japan, their traditional shinto religion is not something that people practice with any particular fervor. It has no specific requirements since it centers around nature and harmony. When Buddhism came to Japan there were more outlined requirments for morality. Japan, up until now was mostly a vegetarian country since they had strong Do no harm prerequisites. Forgiveness and selflessness are a main part of Buddhist practice. However since the Porteuguese brought Christianity to Japan, it is practiced by some. I know a few girls that have non Japanese first names because their parents are Christian. however most Japanese are not very familiar of what Christianity entails. It’s popular in Japan in the sense that Eastern religions are popular in America. And English writing is considered cool in japan like how Japanese symbols are cool in the US. They don’t really know what it is.
We have a gospel choir here that sing about Jesus but probably have no idea who Jesus is.

Ahhhh, okay, so ive aquired some items in the last few days, and while on the subject of anime, i would like to tell you a story.
a story of fate… (gee that sounded ominous)
So, a couple of years ago, about 7 or 8 if i recall, a primary school girl wearing bells in her hair, which was walking around the upper level of the local library with her red head guy-friend, looking for books on brazil. across in the young adult area was a bunch of yr 7’s that they both really hated. so with a flick of the heinous pleated school skirts, and a tinkle of the bells, the female ran over there, listening into there conversations.
so as not to seem ‘suspicious’ she grabbed the first book she saw, pretended to read the back and sped off giggling with her friend.
the book lay forgotten in her room for 3 weeks until she had to get the rest of the books together to return to the library.
out of the corner of her eye, she saw the last book, and grabbed it, deciding to give it a read anyway.
she scanned the first few pages and instantly fell in love.
3 months later, an angry looking letter from the public library arrived reading:
PLEASE RETURN VISUAL NOVEL MAISON IKKOKU VOL. 3 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

and ever since that day, ive been in complete love with all things anime/manga related.

That my friends, is fate… squiggly eyebrowed look😛

Sooo, im up to vol 5 of bleach.
gah, considering doing a rukiaxichigo fanfic.

Regards,
the crazy sasuke-neji-kakashi-ichigo-fangirl-with-bells-and-weird-hair.
😛 😃
