Technically…no they’re not “anime” in the typical sense that they aren’t made in Japan or created by a Japanese person. However the second season has been animated in Japan and is also distributed by Sony which is a Japanese Company. The rights still go to Aaron McGruder himself who is American
I thought SONY stood for Standard Oil of New York – and was an American Company?

Sony-sony is Japanese slang for “whiz kids”
Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka founded the company sometime in the 50s. The distributed transustor radios based on the technology they had studied in the United states, namel Texas instruments. Sony is not an acronym. Japanese people just like Romanizing everything as they think Roman letters are “cool”…plus they have a mass appeal as most countries use some derivative of the Roman alphabet and use the Arabic number system

I stand somewhat corrected. 😃

I would say my favorites are Ghost in the Shell* (all versions), Midori no Hibi* (“Midori Days”), Higurashi no Naku Koro ni* (“When the Higurashi Cry”), Azumanga Daioh*, Excel Saga*, Urusei Yatsura* (loosely “Those Obnoxious Aliens”), Yume de Aetara* (“If I See You in My Dreams”), Aishiteru ze Baby* (“I Love Ya, Baby”), Sakigake!! Kuromati Kōkō* (“Charge!! Cromartie High School”), and Sailor Moon.

The ones marked with a * are for mature audiences only. None of this is hentai, but a lot of it has things I would not consider to be for kids. Some of it has a great deal of violence (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is a horror thriller and so is very violent).

I’m more of an ex-anime fan, though for several years I was intensely involved with it. At my peak I had over 300 DVDs. I sold most of them, keeping only a small reserve of classics.

I think my favorite series were Excel Saga, Sailor Moon, Urusei Yatsura, and Azumanga Daioh, and tended to be impressed by the movies of Satoshi Kon.

Dude, most anime is not for kids nor meant to be for kids. Especially not Excel Saga or Ghost in the Shell.

loves Azumanga Daioh and Cromartie High School, is somewhere in the middle about Aishiteruze Baby

Japanese people do not have the belief that because something is animated or drawn then it is for children. Plus it’s a more practical medium. Live action films in Japan are very hard to make for various reasons not to mention it’s expensive.

There’s always Pokemon! Or Digimon! 😃

Mojacko, Doraemon…hhmm…actually, there are a bunch of anime made for kids. Anime has a wide range of themes for all age groups, so it’s not really easy to say that anime is just for one particular group.

Anyone made any site or shrine for his favourite anime/character? My first one was a shrine for Sailor Mars–forgot where is it now, since it was my first attempt to make anything. Hopefully it’s still with Geocities. My second one is still alive, though I have not updated it in a long while; it’s dedicated to one of my favourite series, To Heart: Heart To Heart.

No, but I do write fanfic. We really need to resurrect that “fandom” thread, because my fandom technically isn’t anime (though it is weeaboo), and because I think we have a decent amount of people in fandom here.

MACRO SAVED NOW.

Yeah, right now I’ve got a quick WIP going which should be good for some lulz for you - same characters as before, but someone asked me for the one arranging a marriage for the other and, if you know the daughter, such is a perfectly lulzworthy idea. Even if you don’t you might get some easy lulz.
It’s a break from a piece someone else requested from me - it’s the only yaoi pairing I’ll ever be able to write (if it’s slash, I can only write squicky relationships rather than cute ones), but it’s absolute hell on my brain to do because 1) it’s yaoi, and 2) … it’s like writing Orochimaru/Sasuke. I can wrap my brain around it, but it’s like… :(. After I’m done I’m going to pretend it never existed.

I used to write fanfic as well, but maybe I just got tired writing one. It’s a very long novel really–supposed to be 10 chapters, but I made only up to 8 or so. I planned to make 3 novels or so about it, but that’s been on hold for awhile now.

I’m currently on Ch. 30 of my fic—and ONLY 103k words. 😃

haz mapped out 46 chaps plus coda

And it’s a sequel. Sometimes I ask myself why.

As a child from the 70’s, I’d have to say, “Battle of the Planets”! Also, “Starblazers”.

Anyone tried Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei here? It looks hilarious if you have a sick sense of humor like I do, but I want some feedback on it.

Also, Reborn and Gurren Lagann. My one friend (who is a MASSIVE Bleach fan) likes both of them, but I haven’t been bothered to start. Are they any good?

Kenshin, I’ve got a part 1 up for the “creepy yaoi” fic. Are you slash-tolerant?
