I was curious what everyone’s favorite Bible passage is?

Mine personally is Wisdom 7: 7-11

Wisdom 7: 7 - 11​

7 Therefore I prayed, and understanding was given me; I called upon God, and the spirit of wisdom came to me.
8 I preferred her to scepters and thrones, and I accounted wealth as nothing in comparison with her.
9 Neither did I liken to her any priceless gem, because all gold is but a little sand in her sight, and silver will be accounted as clay before her.
10 I loved her more than health and beauty, and I chose to have her rather than light, because her radiance never ceases.
11 All good things came to me along with her, and in her hands uncounted wealth.

I like this because I always view wisdom as a woman and praying for her I would obtain her and all her riches that she brings with her in these verses.

I like John 6:35-58. Bread of Life discourse

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”
 
I have two favorites. The first is Psalm 4, particularly the translation in my Liturgy of the Hours book.
Psalm 4
When I call, you answer me, O God of justice;
from anguish you released me; have mercy and hear me!
O men, how long will your hearts be closed,
will you love what is futile and seek what is false?
It is the Lord who grants favors to those whom he loves;
the Lord hears me whenever I call him.
Fear him; do not sin: ponder on your bed and be still.
Make justice your sacrifice and trust in the Lord.
“What can bring us happiness?” many say.
Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord.
You have put into my heart a greater joy than they have from abundance of corn and new wine.
I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at once for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

I also really love Romans 8:35-38. So much so that a friend of mine referred to it as “my verse.”
35 What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish or distress or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we are being slain all the day;
We are looked upon as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, 38 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I have any number of them, most seem to revolve around Love…

Probably my most favorite is Matthew 22:36-40 and the great commandment(s). It boils all of the “details” down to something clear and manageable.
This along with 1 John 4 where it speaks of God being Love and that those who know Love know God…

How can we go wrong if we read the rest of Scripture, especially the NT in this light.

Isiah 56: 1-8

Aside from the fact that I happen to be a “dry tree” nyself, :blushing: I love the call that all are to be equal when it comes to worshiping God. :clapping:
 
“Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.” [1 Cor 13]

But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.[Ps 86:15]

.St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology, was a Roman Catholic saint who took the gospel literally by following all Jesus said and did.St Francis shared the Gospel with animals!

Genesis 9: 9-10 “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you-the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you-every living creature on earth.”

Hosea 2:18
“In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.”

Isaiah 11: 6-9
“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”
These scriptures letme know that all my animals wll be with me in the new world with the Lord!
 
Thank you all for sharing these. It’s very nice to see that everyone takes a little something different from the bible and applies it to their life.

Psalm 25:2

2 O my God, in thee I trust, let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me.
 
I like the story of Peter in the middle of lake gallilee when the apostles saw Jesus comming toward them on the water. Peter saw Jesus and yelled to Jesus that he too wanted to walk on the water. Then Jesus said “come”. I can just see Peter in his excitement leap over the side of the boat on the water and start for Jesus. Then all of a sudden, it occurrs to him that he is really walking on water, deep water at that. Then "OH-OH’ races thru his mind he starts to sweat, and simultaneously sink, yelling to Jeusus to save him. Then Jesus reaches out his hand to him and lifts him gently up and says to all of US “O you of little trust.”

I always thought the most beautiful words in the Bible were “Jesus wept”. It always reminds me to empathize and sympathize before and after I rationalize and organize. For we serve and love a God of love. Jesus knew he could raise Lazarus to life, but the grief and anguish of his sisters overcame him and he wept for them, and for the loss of his friend. It also reminds me that God weeps for us when we confess our sins. before passing judgment and asking for acts of penance he weeps for us. It also reminds me that the Prophet MUST weep before he speaks. It must break his heart before he passes judgment or seeks communal penance.

That is why I think my favorite verse is “JESUS WEPT”

A very interesting moment, recorded only by John, when Jesus was arrested at night. The Pharisees and soldiers came with weapons and torches. Jesus stepped forward and asked them, Who is it you want? Jesus the Nazorean, they replied. When Jesus said, I AM HE, they retreated, and they *** all fell down. ***

What on earth happened there?
Can’t wait to see the replay on that event! Glory to God.

Psalm 38:8: “Low I have a painful disease in my loins.”

However, my favorite serious passage is one that I cannot remember when it comes to quoting the exact book, chapter, or line, but it’s “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”
