I canā€™t remember either much of the time so I use Ask.com and just type in (or copy and paste) part of any verse and usually the passage is among the list of answers. And then I come here and put in the book and verse in the Bible icon and I have the DR version which is my favorite.
 
Well, donā€™t put me in a box and say this is what Dave likes loves the most, but for the last few months it has been from Gal:ā€¦it is no longer I that live but Christ Jesus who lives in me ā€¦ along with Phil 2ā€¦ Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus who being of the nature of God (third person of the Trinity) did not consider it robbery to but made Himself of NO reputationā€¦šŸ˜ƒ

I seem to recall someone giving an interesting talk on that once. I think it was about the very name of God (I am) being so powerful that the soldiers were blown backward. What are your thoughts?

My favorite passage of Scripture is Acts 11:24 which describes Barnabas as ā€œa good man full of the Holy Spirit and of faith.ā€ I can only hope someone someday may think of me this way.šŸ˜Š
 
There are quite a few favorite verses, but this verse changed my spiritual life several years ago. Now it reminds me during some of the" droughts", that He is always with me - itā€™s up to me how close.

James Chapter 4, Verse 8:
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

There is power in the Word !

Yes, Christ saying I am, and the army fell down. Immobilized. Neutralized. The power of the Name! I think it emphasizes that Jesus indeed layed his life down freely. That talk would have been interesting!

In addition to many of the ones already posted, I really like the story in 1 Kings 19 about Elijah waiting in a cave for the Lord. After the huge wind and earthquake and fire, there was a gentle whisper, and thatā€™s when Elijah recognized the Lord, and he went out with face covered. Iā€™d probably passed over that reading before without much thought until, years ago, a priest gave a homily stressing that the Lord - though He is all-powerful and can cause all the events named here - came as a gentle voice that coaxed Elijah out of the cave. And Elijah came out with deep respect. Maybe it struck me so much because, when young, I was afraid of God and punishment, and this was very comforting.
 
My favourite passage is in St Luke (Ch: 15) and is the parable of the Prodigal son. Every time I read it I get something new from it. I suppose the main message is the joy of the forgiving father when his wayward son returns from a life of sin and his readiness to forgive and be reconciled. His humble confession to his loving father is accepted with great joy and is a precious example for all of us.
But then there is the ā€œgoodā€ son who returned from working in the fields and is upset because of the fathers welcome for his brother. He rebukes the father and said ā€œAll these years I have slaved for you and never disobeyed your order and what have you given me? Not even a kid goat to share a feast with my friends. Then this SON OF YOURS returns after spending your wealth on prostitutes and you kill a fatted calfā€. The poor guy couldnā€™t find it in his heart to refer to his brother as ā€˜my brotherā€™ but rather as ā€˜this son of yoursā€™.
Before the prodigal son left home the father gave them both their inheritance so the one who remained home should not have any feeling of being overlooked.
The father gently replied "Son, you are always here with me and all that I have is yours but we had to celebrate and be happy because YOUR BROTHER was dead and is now alive; he was lost but now he has been foundā€¦
What a beautiful story
 
I do like Luke 23:43 He answered him, ā€˜In truth I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.ā€™
 
John 14:6

Jesus said to him, ā€œI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (NKJV)

Pretty much sums it up!

He spoke to me in a soft low voice ā€œsaying come to Meā€ I said if it is realy you Show me that you are ever present, He did,why do people doubt, His Justice is greater than his Mercy says Bernadet
