Favorite Bible quote/verse

I would like to know what people’s favourite bible verse is, with a short explanation as to why it is the most important to you.

For me: “Be still and know that I am God”. Psalm 46.

In order to practice my faith, or even read the Bible, I must stop and be sitll and be one with God. I long ago learnt how important that was when I lived in a monastery.
 
Psalm 23
…Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me;

It’s a comfort to remember that he is with us through everything.
 
my all time favorite verse is Ephesians 6:10-18 (The Message)

"And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Today I read some more of the bible after reading a christians question about a topic.

I can’t say with honesty it is my favorite quote/verse but for today it is.

Deuteronomy 24:16
Deuteronomy 23:2
Isaiah 14:21
Ex 34:7

Good stuff there. I love getting into the word! It is uplifting, and makes me feel better about my fellow human beings.
 
A lot of people point to Jeremiah 29:11. But just a little further is my favorite one.

Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all of your heart.”

Goes along with my personal motto of “Those who look for God. Find Him.”
 
Ecclesiastes 3:
1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance . . . etc.
To me, it conveys a sense of the rhythm of life–the liturgical year, the cycle of feasts and fasts, births and deaths, sin and confession . . .

And it’s just beautiful. 🙂
 
These are great. It’s good to know why people are touched by particular verses. Keep sending them in.

I like Jeremiah!

When I read Matt 27:9 I think of him. Except, it also makes me think of Zechariah 11:12. So cool how it all comes together like that!🙂
