Favorite book from old and new testament each and why?

What is your favorite book after the first five books in the old testament? Which is your favorite " prophecy" book. I find the books after 1 Samuel most inspiring. No offense but I personally can’t really get into the Pentateuch because I can’t help but read them as mythological folktales. Ruth (or maybe judges) is where the history starts.

Can you also write why that particular book is important in modern life? Something like- ‘Song of Solomon shows how a marriage should be’ or something like that for example

I ask because if I am to suggest the bible to someone I should know the importance it will have in their lives.

But you will never know the importance that this book or that one will have in the life of someone else. God speaks to us all according to our own lives through the truths revealed in Scripture. What might hit you in, say, Isaiah can (and most likely will) relate differently to me and my life. So while Song of Solomon may illuminate some way of approaching marriage, it can speak to lives of the religious and consecrated single just as much.
 
In Old Testament, I like Job and Ecclesiastes. I like Job because it is about being borderline suicidal, depressed, wanting to die, feeling miserable rather than happy and full of “the joy of the Lord.” Let’s face it, most people are not happy like that most of the time. So Job feels realistic.

I like Ecclesiastes because I get depressed often about searching for truth and looking out at the world and feeling like everything is a waste of time… and Ecclesiastes articulates those thoughts for me. And then it talks about how just to make the most of the moment… because we know nothing, we do not know what God is going to with anything… whether He will let our tasks remain fruitless and vain or will he create something great out of them…

In the New Testament, I like Colossians because it talks intently of the meaning of what Christ has done for us and how that can apply in our lives… reading chapter 3 is like a drop of dew on a dry and crackly tongue… it reminds me to stop thinking of myself and think of others and Yeshua.
 
I love Isaiah.
Also, being a musician, I love the Psalms.
 
I don’t have a favorite from the New, because it would be too hard to decide. I love all four books containing the life of Christ. I also love Revelation. In the Old, Genesis was always my favorite, and, to be more particular, the story of creation and Adam and Eve. I can’t explain why, really, just because those stories tell of the beginning of everything. I even love those first three words with which all Bibles start: “In the beginning…” And the rest is history.🙂
 
I like the book of Ruth. It is short but contains alot about friendship, faithfulness and it also foretells the birth of Jesus as I believe.

I also like many passages of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jonah and Daniel - espescially those passages that tell about God’s care for humans as well as for aninmals.

In the New Testament I like Luke and Mark.
 
OT - Johah. I just love Jonah. It’s endearing. He is stubborn and goes off somewhat stumping his feet. Then he gets all upset about the tree drying up.

NT - Paul’s Epistles. Spiritual connection.

But, of course, I like all of Sacred Scripture.
