Looking for a new. I’m not picky. What are your favorite reads on our faith? And why?

“Swear to God” by Scott Hahn and “Upon this Rock” by Steve Ray.

Both illustrate, in different ways, the historical roots and strength of our Church.
 
Also, great question. I’m looking for something new to read myself.
 
Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis de Sales.

It is an easy to read book on practical aspects of practicing virtue and Christian beliefs in every day life. It was written just over four hundred years ago and is still relevant today.

It is definitely one of my all time favorite books on living our Faith.

I couldn’t finish it, because the book imposed a daily rhythm and my life didn’t permit such imposition.

(I had also read “the imitation of Christ” and “the glories of Mary” before that, so I felt I wouldn’t gain as much from St.Francis of Sales at that point.)
 
He really helped me understand the teachings on the faith more, especially when I decided to convert. His books are beautifully written and are very inspiring.
 
The Lord by Romano Guardini. One of the greatest books I’ve ever read.

Also in my top 10. Although you definitely need to allot a large chunk of time for it as it is over 600 pages long.
 
@po18guy I’m actually considering ordering Fulton Sheen’s book on marriage oversees from the US. I read the first few pages and his style of writing is really really COOL 🙂
 
Guardini pioneered the concept of addressing Christology from a meditative, spiritual and thematic view, rather than a chronological or metaphysical one. Guardini was Pope Benedict’s friend and mentor when he was in university through his graduate studies and it is Guardini’s approach to theology which he has perfected in his own writings.

He was a true intellectual who spent a daily holy hour without fail. Very witty and offers a unique perspective on the faith which can open vistas of contemplation for us.

To think of a religious leader having the most popular TV show and receiving an Emmy award today is unthinkable.
