This is very true!!I learned that trick a few months ago in Good Housekeeping. Sometimes you eat an entire chocolate bar without being satisfied. Then, if you allow just one square of it to melt in your mouth you realize that it isn’t even good chocolate and you don’t like it. I’ve experienced that with most Hershey’s, even the dark chocolate bars.
Then you discover that one square of that Lindt bar I mentioned or a square of Ritter Sport Dark Chocolate allowed to melt in the mouth is so rich, so creamy and so satisfying that one square will satisfy a chocolate craving. Saves on calories & fat.
… I learned that I likely have an allergy to chocolate (kind of like having an allergy to breathing for me!) …
Ghirardelli’s, Scharffen Berger’s and Godiva, to me, are the best!what is your favorite brand of chocolate? especially local chocolatiers in your area.
I have been eating dark chocolate (not my fave, but fairly lo-carb source of anti-oxidants and one ounce jolt a day does not blow diet–ghiradelli squares or dove dark)
but I really prefer milk chocolate
Guest brought chocolate for DD’s family and reminded me of the world’s best milk chocolate–Malley’s, a renowned Cleveland company. they have the best Easter basket candies you will ever find and some schools sell them as fundraisers.
do you like solid milk chocolate? cream centers? nutty, caramel, french mints etc?
love fruit flavored creme centers in milk chocolate
HATE coconut centers
Hey! GH stole my idea!I learned that trick a few months ago in Good Housekeeping. Sometimes you eat an entire chocolate bar without being satisfied. Thanks!! (from one recovering chocaholic)My deepest sympathies. :console:
prayer intention for IO, this is like having an allergy to water, pobrecita! Thanks!! (from one recovering chocaholic)![]()
There’s another brand, the name of which escapes me, which I can find at Whole Foods that I like a lot. It comes in small bars, in difference percentages of cocoa. All I can remember about the brand is there’s some sort of a stag on the label, either a deer or antelope or something like that…![]()
That’s the one I was trying to think of! And it’s the 60% that’s my fave too!!**Scharffen-Berger, **which despite the foreign-sounding name is made right here in the US (California). Before I learned that I likely have an allergy to chocolate (kind of like having an allergy to breathing for me!) I rarely missed having at least a square a day of their 60% semisweet bars.
It was a great column. The author is trying to teach women how to lose weight without depriving themselves. She pointed out to a group of women she was working with that when you eat without paying attention to what you are doing you eat way more than necessary and you often don’t taste or enjoy the food.Hey! GH stole my idea!
I learned this myself about 8 years ago…due to a health condition (IBS-D), I cannot eat large amts of fat. If I want something high fat (like solid choc), I have to reduce the amt I eat.
I found that by letting a small piece diossolve in my mouth, it fills me up and satisfies my craving, so I don’t need the whole bar (scarfing down the entire bar prevents you from truly savoring the choc anyway!)
Terry’s Chocolate Orange.can’t think of the name but it is a chocolate orange in slices wrapped in orange foil we used to get in our Christmas stockings, orange flavored milk-chocolate, dutch style I think.
