What are some of your favorite Catholic recording artists/songs?

Steve Angrisano
Matthew Maher
Sarah Hart (especially the song about her daughter)
Vince Nims

I agree.

Matt Maher (he’s coming out with a new CD soon)
Sarah Hart
John Michael Talbot

John Michael Talbot 👍

Original, genuine, peaceful, contemplative, musical, very Catholic and Franciscan music.

I like the group “The Innocence Mission” and especially their “Christ is My Hope” CD. I also like to loop Medjugorje on their self-titled CD during the rosary. (you can listen to snippets on www.amazon.com to decide if you want to buy a CD). It has been said “For anyone in need of respite from Madonna’s Catholic guilt, The Innocence Mission offers the rarer, intriguing tonic of Catholic joy. --Los Angeles Times”

Here’s a link to their website:

I went to amazon to find snipets of “Christ is my hope” but couldn’t find it, am I looking in the wrong place? or can I find snipets at some other site?

Sorry, that seems to be one album that they don’t provide samples for. There are two samples from that CD that play on Windows real player at this site:

(But there are much better songs on the CD, like Fare Thee Well and 500 Miles…I’d recommend it highly!)

Found a snipet at catholicmusicnetwork.com/cmn_cd_detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=10073&KEYWORD=innocence&SEARCH_BY=ARTIST&PGNU=1&SOURCE=&gobackto=cmn_search_results.asp

Also, if anyone hasn’t heard about “Spirt and Song”, give it a try

Why are there MORE Catholic singers?

Anyone know if Cathy Troccoli is Catholic?

There are some good, young singers on a program called “Backstage” on EWTN. Last nite there were three beautiful, young sisters on called “Seraphim” and they sang traditional Catholic music. Very good!

Kathy Troccoli was raised Catholic, left for awhile and said she reverted a couple of years back. I don’t know if anything has changed in her life since the last interview a couple of years ago, but she seemed back in the fold back then.

John Michael Talbot. His music has been a hit with everyone with whom I have shared it, and he’s been instrumental (no pun intended) in helping my sister and I come to a knowledge of Christ and His Church.

His “Peace Prayer” based on St. Francis’ prayer is simply beautiful. His “contemplative” work is great as a mood-setting prayer aid.

My favourite song from the Catholic Contemporary section, is “Set Me As A Seal” by Matt Maher. Taken from the Song of Songs, it is very beautiful as the title is! 😃

I thought that JMT was alright until I saw him in concert. Wow!
Anyway, I am interested in what “contemplative” work you think is the best.

Healer of My Soul and God Beyond All Names are my current favorites.

My wife and I are big fans of Mark Forrest. Our pastor, Fr. Peffley narrated his Rosary CD, and he performs at our parish on a regular basis (just last week in fact). Here’s his web link:

Three Options:
I can’t stand Bruce Springsteen. Sting is O.K.
Since when did Sting become Catholic? Is any Catholic music played???

Sarah Hart is good. I like the Make Me a Channel song.
Vince Nims is fun. He sang at our diocese CYC (Catholic Youth Convention) in 2004. I like his Bannana Song, it’s very addicting.
Matt Maher is great. My favorites are Jericho, Isaiah # (?), All Glory to God, and Sophia.
But my absolute favorite group is Ceili Rain. I have a lot of favorites from them. That’s All the Lumber You Sent, 666 Degrees, Love Travels, Ceili Rain, Love is Contagious, This is October, Stomp, and so forth…
