I’m just curious what your favorite songs from church are. If you can, please post a link to a youtube video of them 👍

I must admit to being one of “those people” who find only sacred music to be appropriate for use at Mass, primarily chant and polyphony. In that spirit, I’d say this …

I do like some contemporary songs that are unfortunately heard at Mass, but not in the context of the Mass.

My favorite is: O God, You Search Me. And I’d love to post a youtube link to it, but I kinda doubt there’s any legal ones there for this song, but one can listen to the legal sample song on Amazon: amazon.com/gp/product/B0019C778Q/ref=sr_1_8_rd?ie=UTF8&child=B0019BVNMS&qid=1394753183&sr=1-8%3C/a%3E

Other ones I like are:

We Have Been Told
How Shall I Sing to God?
You Are Mine

I will sing of my Redeemer
Give me Jesus
At the Cross
Holy, Holy, Holy (Lord God Almighty)
How Great Thou Art

and far too many more to name, both hymns and contemporary.

Veni Creator Spiritus
Sweet Sacrament Divine
Mother At Thy Feet
Jesus My Lord My God My All
One Bread One Body
Here I Am Lord
Will You Let Me Be Your Servant
Be Not Afraid
Our Lady of Knock
Ave Maria
**O Savior Precious Savior **
…and many many others!! 😃

I am one of “those people” who LOVES contemporary music in church:D. My favorite song is Our God is an Awesome God. My church sings it so loudly and passionately at the end of church nothing else can be heard. It’s so powerful:D

My favorites are:

Pange Lingua
O Salutaris Hostia
Tantum Ergo Sacramentum
Ave Maria
Hail Holy Queen Enthroned Above
O Most Holy One
O Sacred Head Surronded
O Sacrament Most Holy
Soul Of My Savior
O Holy Night
Alleluia! Alleluia! Let The Holy Anthem Rise

I’ve got quite a few…

One Bread, One Body
Hosea
Holy, Holy, Holy
Ave Maria
On Eagle’s Wings
How Great Thou Art
Amazing Grace
Seek Ye First
Be Thou My Vision
Be Not Afraid

There are tons more though

All Creatures of Our God and King and We Belong To You by Trevor Thompson are two of my favorites.

My favorite hymns are the Te Deum and the Gloria. It’s especially great for me because we sing both at least every week!

Come Holy Ghost creator come at Pentecost with a massive organ , big procession and loads of incense - nothing like it .
Come Down o LOve Devine .
Lord enthroned inHeavenly Splendour
Lord for tomorrow and its needs .
Keep modern music out of the mass I say .

I love Kyrie , Sactus , Agnus Dei etc sung in Latin with the organ .

At the Cross Her Station Keeping, Lift High the Cross, You Are Mine, Kyrie Eleison, Sing Of Mary, Immaculate Mary, Ave Maria, Salve Regina, On Eagle’s Wings, Thank You God, Shine Jesus Shine, Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee, Here I Am Lord, and many many more I cannot remember at this moment. I’ve been cantoring Mass since first grade so these songs make me feel very nostalgic, and their beauty is overpowering. I can just remember my fifth grade class belting Shine Jesus Shine at the top of their lungs…🙂

Also, when I was singing Church hymns to myself in preparation for Mass at the age of six or seven and I came to the line, ‘Do not be afraid, I am with you, I have called you each by name, come and follow me, I will bring you home, I love you and you are mine,’ that was my first actual Independent realization that God loved me particularly and I remember being so shocked and pleased.
