I love “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”.

What Easter hymns do you all like?

i cry every time we sing “Were You There When They Crucified Our Lord” - it always hits home.

Our choir traditionally sings “The Alleluia Chorus” as the recessional for the Easter Vigil. I can’t wait to sing that for real with the angels someday!

Naturally, I’m crazy for every song sung at my baptism - especially Celtic Alleluia and Jesus Christ Is Risen Today, which was the recessional hymn that Easter.

Don’t know it’s origins, but even my barely-raised-Protestant, New Agey mom knew it, and I love hearing her voice singing away on the home video my atheist father made of that Mass.

There are so many beautiful Easter songs. It may not be a hymn, but the Proclamation was sung so beautifully last night by one of our deacons!

“Jesus Christ is Risen Today” is the easiest for me to remember the words to… But my favorite of all time (sadly, my current parish doesn’t sing it) is “Alleluia, Alleluia, Let the Holy Anthem Rise”.

Jesus is Risen (same tune as All Creatures of Our God and King)

👍

How about “Alleluia, Alleluia, let the Holy Anthem Rise”? or “Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Christians haste your vows to Pay”?
Or how about the “Gloria” now that we’ll be having it for eight days straight.
It was really neat, our Sr. Elaine played the trumpet for part of it both at our Easter vigil last night and at today’s morning Mass.

“Christ the Lord is Risen Today”

“The Day of Resurrection”

Not just at Easter, but always, my favorite hymn: “Christ in Me Arise” !

Halleluia Chorus for a classic
Christ in Me Arise for something modern
