I also enjoy food.

It doesn’t have to be a gourmet meal, either. I also love good home-cooked comfort food, like meatloaf or a nice pot roast with potatoes.😁 😋
This is actually my preference. I’ve learned so much about people by observing and sharing what they eat. One thing I’ve discovered is that those with modest means are more interesting than those with money to burn, and their meals reflect that.

I once had someone tell me I had to like caviar because it’s expensive and luxurious. Well, you know what? Yuck. At any price, yuck. Give me a grilled cheese sandwich (Kraft singles on white bread is fine) and a bowl of tomato soup any day.

Latin American roast chicken.

This is my favorite take out!

A local place has really tasty chicken, then great sides like these little silver dollar sized corn cakes, rice and beans , and plantains. But the best is the sauce. It’s the color of avocado, but I think it has oil and parsley, maybe garlic, and some other spices. Oh my goodness!

This place is owned by a Venezuelan family. I’ve had similar at an Ecuadorian owned restaurant.

Yum.

Gyros.

Although they’re kinda like pizza- the native and American versions are very different.

If you ever get the chance to go to a Nigerian restaurant, do it. It soooo good.

Other than that, Greek, Indian, and Middle Eastern are all worth a try if you like savory with a spicy kick.

I know you all love everything you’ve listed. But for me, I’m with Bogart when he said, “a hot dog at a ball park beats a steak at the Ritz.” Make mine with a cold Budweiser. Y’all can have that “fancy foreign cuesine”

I do admit, however, to loving Baklava.

Well, every country’s cuisine is foreign to someone. Not everything that’s foreign is also fancy, either.

That said, I agree with you and Bogey. There’s nothing like a hot dog at the ballpark :+1:t3: Thing is, I’m not always at the ballpark. 😉 But 99 times out of 100 I’ll take simple, everyday dishes over anything fancy-schmancy, no matter what part of the world it comes from.

@shazirah, have you ever tried Ethiopian food? A nice spicy doro wat on injera bread…😋

TACOS!

I’ve gotten pretty good at making birria tacos. I’m working on tacos al pastor.

I’ll go out for a good fish taco.

Don’t do spicy (due to health concerns) Mustard on a hot dog is about as spicy as I get. I’ll have to take your word.

I really like chicken tikka masala, which is from Indian cuisine. It’s chicken with vegetables and a really spicy kind of sauce. It’s not just pure heat, though. The problem I find with spicy food is that all you can taste is the heat, but with chicken tikka masala, it’s more flavorful.

Wat is the best! If anything would convince me to move to a bigger city, it’s the idea of getting Ethiopian food regularly.

Pastitsio. It’s Greek comfort food. I think literally translated it means ‘a big mess in the kitchen’ or something like that. I’ve made it a few times. And a big mess.

Green Thai Curry.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Chicken biryani

And also most things west indian. Plantin, dumplings, curry goat etc.

Do those count?
