Favorite movie SCENE!

In Glory Road, the movie about the Ut El Paso who won with an all black team wins the NCAA Basketball championship.

After their only lose, the team starts fighting bc the black players were feeling intimadated with all the rascism that was going on towards them. The coach (Haskins) tells them, Keep your head up keep your head up, show them, WIN
 
This thread is great- it’s nice to get my mind off heavier stuff. I’d like to make a contribution- sorry if it goes too long or if I’m paraphrasing! Most of these are from the old days…

2 in Casablanca:
  1. Where Claude Rains is “shocked, shocked” to find gambling going on;
  2. Where Victor Laszlo leads the French national anthem to drown out the Germans’ singing Die Wacht am Rhine (there’s a great ‘scene within that scene’ - Laszlow calls for the anthem and the band looks to Bogey for approval; he nods, and they play; with that single nod, Rick ceases to be neutral, and has become allied with the Free French).
 
The closing scene in The Red Balloon gets an honorable mention.

That film is pure visual poetry - fantastic (name removed by moderator)ut for little kids!🙂
 
The scene in Mulan when China bows down to her after she saved everyone pretty much single handedly. Pretty epic 😉
 
When the Phantom crashes the Masquerade ball in Phantom of the Opera. 😃

Along the same line LOTR: Return of the King, When Aragorn tells the hobbits they bow to no one.
 
The lunch scene in Jurassic Park where they discuss the morality of resurrecting dinosaurs.
 
When Giosuè sees the Sherman tank in Life is Beautiful. Without a doubt, the best scene ever filmed.
 
There’s a creepy scene in ‘Apocalypse Now’ where Martin Sheen meets up with a bunch of soldiers trying to blow up a bridge or take control of it or something - and they are all high on drugs, shooting at things that may not be real, etc. I’m not sure it’s my favorite scene, but it is certainly a riveting one, despite being very dreamlike. There’s a sense of ever-present danger and confusion that may capture something of the feel of real-life battle conditions (I can only speculate).
 
Probably nobody else in the history of the world has reacted to this scene the way I do every time I see it.

It from The Song of Bernadette, and it’s the scene in which she goes to join the convent, and she is taken to her cell. She stands there for a few moments, looking around the room. There’s a window, a cot, and a crucifix. That’s all.

Every time I see this, my heart just yearns to have what she has there. Just the basics, and a life devoted to God.

In case you’re wondering why this scene is so significant to me, allow me to explain.

I’m married to a pack rat. He thinks he’s got to have just about every bit of recorded music ever produced. It’s everywhere: in the kitchen, the bedroom, the hall. It goes up to the ceiling in the garage. We spent $3,000 to get a storage shed to help house his collection.

How I long, as Thoraeu said, to simplify, simplify, simplify!

also the end of It’s a Wonderful Life and the scenes mentioned from Les Miz.

Some additional ones:
Lord of the Rings trilogy: Boromir’s death. (Also the look that Faramir gives when his father sends him off – the pain…) Also any of Eowyn’s scenes. Also when Galadriel waves farewell (reminiscent of Our Blessed Mother)

Les Miz: “Am I forgiven now?”

The Greatest Game Ever Played: The end of the tournament when Francis’ father shows up.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella: When the Prince starts his search for her and when he urges her to try on the slipper.

The Princess Bride: “Drop. Your. Sword.”, the final “As you wish.”, and the duel.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: Lucy’s look when Edmund breaks the window. Also Peter’s reaction when he realizes that Edmund is alive.

For Me and My Gal: When Judy Garland’s character sees Gene Kelly’s character in the audience at the Palace.

Galaxy Quest: Any of Alan Rickman’s scenes. Aww heck, any scene…
 
Some more that I forgot about:

That Thing You Do: The first time the song was performed in public (at the Talent Show) and the first time Faye (Liv Taylor) hears it on the radio. And any of Lenny’s (Steve Zahn’s) scenes.
