Favorite part of Mass?

I’m actually serious in my last post btw, my favorite part of the mass is the fact that I get to receive into my heart and my soul the savior of the universe.

so yes my favorite part of the mass is JESUS

My favorite is the line, when kneeling, of “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed”

This, and what the priest adds right afterwards, almost whispering: “May the Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ preserve my soul unto life everlasting. Amen.”

Favorite Mass part is the Sequence before the Gospel on All Souls Day (EF Mass). Dies Irae is the most beautiful chant I’ve ever heard. My uncle (a bishop) was just telling me over Thanksgiving that as far as chants go, you can’t beat that one.

I can listen to it over and over.

I really like during Lent when we kneel and sing the Kyrie Eleison.

As far as all year goes, the elevation of the Gospel with the Alleluia. Sometimes brings tears to my eyes.

During the Eucharistic Prayer:

“You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them** like the dewfall**, so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I love the image of “dewfall” for the Holy Spirit, and ever since our parish started using the new missal translation, I listen carefully for that line.

This and the Sign of Peace… I used to dislike the placement of the kiss of peace, right before receiving communion, but now I find great meaning and joy in the physical action of making peace with my brothers and sisters before receiving the Eucharist.

Following consecration, when the precious body of Christ is raised up above the altar in view of the congregation and the priest says;
"Behold the Lamb of God. Behold Him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb."

And there He is. My Lord. Waiting for me to receive Him.

I love the whole thing!

But seriously there are a lot of things about the mass that I like.

I like the gospel. Being able to hear God’s word and how he commanded us to live. My priests at my parish usually give a good homily and they help me to be a better Catholic everytime I go to Mass.

I also like it when the priest is doing the consecration of the Holy Eucharist as he is saying the phrase " Take ye, and eat. This is my body. And taking the chalice, he gave thanks, and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this. For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins. I like the way that the event takes place in that the priest picks up the cup and moves it left to right. I don’t know why but I think this simple gesture adds significance to it.

Finally I would say that I love the church songs. My favorite songs are I am the bread of life and Christ be our light

My favorite is when we sing the Gloria again after it has been omitted for the season.

At other times of the year, maybe I’d say singing the Agnus Dei. Though perhaps that is trumped by “Behold the Lamb of God…”, which is always a special moment of adoration for me. This isn’t a particularly easy question to answer.

Of course I love the whole thing as it gives me a sense of peace and feeling at home. Likely due to the number of years of going to church with my family when I was younger.

When the people with one voice recite the Our Father.

Behold! The Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world…It makes me want to fall down before Him in adoration, and I am always filled with the wonder of how He kept his promise to never leave nor abandon us, by coming to us in the Eucharist.

This is odd, but my favorite part is the response “It is right and just”.
I also liked “It is right to give Him thanks and praise” in the old translation.
When I was about 7, I was sitting next to my best friend during one of the school masses and she said this line rather loudly. I liked the absoluteness of saying “it is right”. No questions, No grey areas. Something to be sure of.

You’re the only person other than myself who I’ve heard say that’s their favorite moment. There was something particularly interesting about it in the days just after the implementation of the new translation. When you’re used to hearing “It is right to give him thanks and praise,” there’s something jarring about the abruptness of “It is right and just” which emphasizes the certainty and unqualified nature of the idea communicated by both phrases.

Another favorite moment is later in the same prayer - “You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray…” When I was in the process of converting earlier this year, I heard that prayer as if for the first time, and everything kinda clicked.

This may be stupid but I I have a love/hate relationship with the Gloria. I love singing it because it feels like such praise to God, but what I don’t like is that it is also stuck in my head every single minute of every single day. Drives me absolutely crazy. I hear it in my head all the time. I’m sweeping the house, I’m humming it. I clean the toilets, I’m humming it. Other than that I guess would be the Nicene Creed.

Me, too! All the time. My 5 year old daughter sings it around the house as well!

My favorite part of the Mass is the elevation of the host and hearing “BEHOLD!” Brings me to tears.

I am the opposite i love the prayer itself but hate singing it due to the tone of the music. I have a lower deep voice so it is almost a strain to sing at the pitch most scores are written. And the way it is done at our church the first two lines are repeated way too much.
