That’s a hard one. I like so many of them. I guess Finding Nemo and Cars. But Wall-E was really good too. Wow … difficult to just pin 1 down. Ha!

I like Cars the most because of the scenery.

I loved Inside Out, because off its representation of the human mind. And I am not a real fan of animation; nor do I have children.

Given that Russia has decommunized long since, you’d not be promoting Communism by seeing their films. It’s all just historical.

Finding Nemo is my favourite. It’s by far the most visually pleasing to me and the story and characters are the most memorable. I’m also really fond of The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Ratatouille and all the Toy Story movies (well the first 3, I haven’t seen 4 yet).

I thought Coco was disappointing to be honest, although I do love the music. So many great songs…the song for the last scene “Proud Corazón” is especially amazing. The whole ending and what it has to say about family are also great, but the movie’s portrayal of the afterlife was just so disappointingly shallow in my opinion, and I found the actual plot not very interesting.

I really loved Ratatouille.

I like the Toy Story franchise okay, and the main characters being toys makes the Pixar art style, where virtually everyone looks like a toy, work very well for them.

I’m not always a fan of how humans are drawn for Pixar films (the huge heads and bitty bodies in a lot of animation these days don’t move me), and some of the stories don’t move me either, so I only want to watch Pixar films and similar Disney films imitating Pixar style in limited doses.

Disney films are for children and not mature adults. Why not watch Midsomer Murders or Downton Abbey?
😂 🤣 😂

The older I get, the more angst and drama and loss I experience in my life.

Why would I want my “entertainment” to add to that. 🤨

Over on YouTube, these two adult men have made a name for themselves talking about Pixar and Disney movies. Jay (the older brother) became a father a year and a half ago, but he was analyzing these films long before that.

Here’s two of my favorite of their videos on Pixar:

Midsomer Murders?! I still have a working cerebral cortex thank you and want to keep it.

As to my favourite Pixar - Coco!

Me too.
I took an acting class, where I was the oldest person in the room (aside from our teacher). The dear young classmates, mostly college age, totally ate up the drama of tragedy and serious plays, and couldn’t understand why I’d much rather be entertained by comedy and spectacle.

Because I already have real issues in my life. I don’t want to go to the theater and cry. I want to walk out of the theater singing happy songs and feeling fine 🙂

BUT—with a happy ending.
You can get very dark in children’s books and theater, but you must have the happy ending

Wall-E is without doubt Pixar’s best film, and the best film from Disney’s animated canon since Beauty and the Beast. It really should have got a Best Picture nomination over Crash, not that it should have won but it definitely should have been up there.

Got you five by five.

I get that in my book clubs, too. “You’ve got to read <>; it’s so good, when I read it, I cried!” they say.

If I am going to spend time and eye-strength to read something, or time and money to wAtch it on a screen, I don’t WANT to cry, or even think about crying. I want to overload my senses and mind, or laugh my bolts off.

I have to agree Wall e was easily the best Pixar movie

But my favorite could differ

I love The Incredibles. It was one of the favorites in my family. I also really like Up, but haven’t watched it in years and probably won’t watch it any time soon, the beginning is just too sad, my postpartum self is tearing up just thinking about it.

I liked Brave too. I saw that with my mom and my daughter and I got pretty teary eyed too.
