I am quite lucky in that I actually really like my living room. I have a strong memory of once praying in the sun coming in through the west window, late winter, sitting on the floor - huge tree out that way, few yards down, could see the top and blue sky. Felt very one foot in eternity, one foot here. I have tried a few times since to recapture that, but it is never the same, at least so far. That said, I can pray very well anywhere in my house or where I choose if I am in the right state of mind. The physical place is helpful but secondary to me. I can feel quite close to God on a crowded bus or not find him some days before an icon or in a Church. And then all that reverses - he is gone on the bus, back in the Church.
