Pope Francis gives us pastoral gold every time he gives a homily. So, I wonder – what are your favorite quotes of our Holy Father? I believe CAF rules require attestation for the quote.

Here is mine for now (so hard to choose), but subject to daily change:

“If we annoy people, blessed be the Lord … We can ask the Holy Spirit to give us all this apostolic fervor and to give us the grace to be annoying when things are too quiet in the Church.”

The pontiff said apostolic zeal “implies an element of madness,” which he labeled as “healthy” and “spiritual.”

I like this Pope. I am not sure what he means by this exactly tho? Maybe be like the desert fathers who would fling peanuts at people in the pews and walk around town with a dead dog strapped to their legs?

I think what he is saying is that this world need saints. People to shake things up… get them off their ipads.

“It threatens our comfort zones, even Christian comfort zones, right?” he asked the congregation. “It irritates us.”

Pope Francis underscored that the Lord “always wants us to move forward, forward, forward, not to take refuge in a quiet life or in cozy structures.”

“The Church has so much need of this, not only in distant lands, in the young churches, among people who do not know Jesus Christ, but here in the cities, in our cities, they need this proclamation of Jesus Christ,” Pope Francis stressed.

I really think the pope wants us to start preaching the gospel with our life.

“So let us ask the Holy Spirit for this grace of apostolic zeal, let’s be Christians with apostolic zeal, onwards, as the Lord says to Paul, take courage!” he exclaimed.

😃

Just my take. The world calls us Christians deluded for believing in God and preaching the Gospel. We supposedly lack intellect, lack reason, for proclaiming Truth. This worldly “madness” is, indeed, healthy and spiritual. My two cents …

yep 👍

One of many 🙂
** “It is an absurd dichotomy to think of living with Jesus but without the Church, of following Jesus outside of the Church, of loving Jesus without loving the Church. Feel the responsibility that you have of caring for the formation of your Institutes in sound Church doctrine, in love of the Church, and in an ecclesial spirit.”**

‘When we do not profess Jesus Christ, the saying of Léon Bloy comes to mind: “Anyone who does not pray to the Lord prays to the devil.” When we do not profess Jesus Christ, we profess the worldliness of the devil, a demonic worldliness.’ - Pope Francis, Pope Francis, Missa Pro Ecclesia (14 March 2013)

“My wish is that all of us, after these days of grace, will have the courage, yes, the courage, to walk in the presence of the Lord, with the Lord’s Cross; to build the Church on the Lord’s blood which was poured out on the Cross; and to profess the one glory: Christ crucified. And in this way, the Church will go forward.” - Pope Francis, Missa Pro Ecclesia (14 March 2013)

In speaking to young people on vocations, something important to me presently, Pope Francis said “Ask Jesus what he wants from you and be brave! Be brave, ask Him!!!” I know it’s simple but in that simplicity is a truth I find beautiful.

“All of you in the square shouted out ‘Francis, Francis, Pope Francis,’ but where was Jesus?” he admonished them. “I want to hear you shout out ‘Jesus, Jesus is Lord, and he is in our midst.’”
