Jesuits and Fransciscans. I love dedication to learning and to those in poverty.

The Jesuits are cool because they have lots of craters on the moon named after them and seismology is sometimes called the Science of the Jesuits.

The Carmelites have the most delicious sounding naming. When somebody says “Mt Carmel” I think of a giant mountain of soft caramel. The melt-in-your-mouth kind, not the get-stuck-in-your-teeth kind.

And then there are the Benedictines, which makes me think of eggs benedict, which is also delicious, especially when put on sourdough bread.

I’d have to go with the Benedictines because of their long tradition of hospitality and their model of pray and work is so simple.

Dominicans without question. They just have a special place in my heart.

I’m also drawn to the Jesuits.

Benedictines
Dominicans
Franciscans
Not in any particular order except alphabetical order.

My confirmation saint, St. Francis Xavier, was a co-founder of the Jesuits, so I’m definitely partial to them. They also have St. Ignatius of Loyola, who I love, as the main founder, and I personally find Molinism to be one of the more interesting theories Catholicism has. They also have the best name.

Franciscans because the Cross of San Damiano is so cool. Lots of rood there.

Jesuits because of the Spiritual Exercises from Ignatius of Loyola and also praying with Scripture and taking the place of one of the people meeting Jesus.

Dominicans. But then again, I might be slightly biased. If no Dominicans, I’d pick the Capuchins.

And now for God’s opinion:

A Franciscan and a Dominican were debating whose order was the greater. After months of arguing, they decided to ask God for an answer when they died. Years later, they met in heaven and went to God’s throne to resolve their old disagreement. God seemed a bit puzzled about the question and told them he would reply in writing a few days later. After much deliberation, God sent the following letter:

My sons,

Please stop bickering about such trivial matters. Both orders are equally great and good in my eyes.

Sincerely,

God, OP
