Favorite Rosary Mysteries?

What is your favorite set of Rosary Mysteries?
  • Joyful
  • Sorrowful
  • Glorious
  • Luminous/Light

I have a hard time picking because they’re all the best in their own way. I chose luminous because I remember as a kid feeling like there were some important events missing like the Eucharist. So I was happy to see the Luminous added. On some level, certain people in my life crankily rejecting the Luminous mysteries made me lean in and like them even more.

But I could just as easily say Sorrowful because I seem to pray those more frequently than the others so I remember them better.

Or Joyful for their Christmassyness.

Or Glorious for their Marian flair.

I know this may sound cliché, but I love all of them equally. I really don’t have a particular favorite.
 
I chose the Joyful, but it was very hard to decide on just one. All of them have pluses. I personally have a hard time meditating on one of the Luminious mysteries, namely the Proclamation of the Kingdom. Yet the other Luminious are awesome and easy. One difficult out of 20 is pretty good though. So very hard to pick a favorite one. 🙂

When I get to that one, I picture Jesus in the synagogue, saying “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Edit to reference the full, illuminating scripture, Luke 4: 16-21 🙂 and sometimes the melody and some of the lyrics from “Every Valley” play in the background, namely “the blind shall see, the deaf shall hear, the lame, shall leap, for joyyyyyyy!” 🎵

The Resurrection is the one I favour. Institution of the Eucharist is second.

Joyful, particularly for the Annunciation. Meditating on it resonates with me the most.

I like to pray them all though.

My mind always goes to Our Lord healing, preaching, walking among us humans. I also find myself considering how I “proclaim” the gospel as I work with children and families in my public school. Do they see Christ in me?

Just my own thoughts.

I remember hearing a priest talking about this, maybe even discussing Rosarium Virginis Mariae, that this mystery is great because it is “open”. In other words, today you might meditate on the Beatitudes, next time you could meditate on a different part of Jesus’ preaching, the great commandment, etc, etc.
