Favorite Scary Book?

As far as short stories go, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is a well-written disturbing and scary one. And Edgar Allen Poe’s stuff as well of course - *Fall of the House of Usher *and Telltale Heart can’t be beat (pun fully intended for those familiar with that one)!
 
thought you were asking about Richard Scary, my son had a big book of trucks, construction equipment, farm equipment etc which was his favorite and mine.

on topic, I like Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen’s spoof of gothic novels
I like Gothic novels, especially Radcliffe. But I don’t find them spooky.
 
  • It* by Stephen King scared the daylights out of me. I’m not to fond of clowns anyway, and Pennywise was tailor made to keep me up at night.
It also scared me badly when i was a King fan… i had nightmares about the clown for 2 years off and on… as well as his book, the Dark Half.
