Can you share your favorite scripture?
What brings you peace? What makes you happy? What reminds you of God.

St. John, Ch. 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. 9 That was the true light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name. 13 Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
God Bless

I like the many instances in Scripture where it says something to the effect of, “With God, all things are possible.” (Luke 1:37, Matt. 19:26)

Matthew 4:19

The First Disciples

18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.

22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

Paul

Any theophany, but especialy Is. 6:3-4

“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts!”

There are many in Rev. as well and Dan.
never mind, I can’t narrow it down to just one.
It’s like trying to descide wich child I love the most.

I love the entire book of Matthew, but this part always puts a particularly large smile on my face.

Matthew 13:31-32

He gave them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest garden plant and becomes a tree, so that the wild birds come and nest in its branches.”

There are three I especially like:

2 Samuel 22::29-30 (Jerusalem Bible Translation):

Yahweh, you yourself are my lamp,
my God lights up my darkness;
with you I storm the rampart
with my God I can scale any wall.

John 8:12 (Revised Standard Version)

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

and Matthew 25:31-45

[31]
"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.

[32] Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,
[33] and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left.
[34] Then the King will say to those at his right hand, Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; [35] for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, [36] I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' [37] Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink?
[38] And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee?
[39] And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?’
[40] And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' [41] Then he will say to those at his left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;
[42] for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
[43] I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’
[44] Then they also will answer, Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?' [45] Then he will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.’
[46] And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Also Isaiah 9:5

For a son has been born for us,
a son has been given to us,
and dominion has been laid on his shoulders;
and this is the name he has been given,
‘Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God,
Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace’

12On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:12-13

47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little." Luke 7:47

9Jesus answered: "Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father… John 14:9

37All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. John 6:37

44No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44

16"This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds." Hebrews 10:16 from Jer. 31:33

I have to go along with ryanoneil, Revelation 21. The final destination of the saints really makes it all worth while. Me and my 10 year old son love to talk about it.

I also find inspiration from the Acts of the Apostles, when I see the birth of the Church and Her beginnings, and how the Apostles and early Christians laid down their lives and were willing to go anywhere on earth for Jesus.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life.

I remembered some more.

1Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Heb 11:1

6And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Heb 11:6

18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.19We love, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:18-19

and all of 1Cor 13

I find the most expressive view that reminds me of God is Romans 8 and James 2…The very fact that I am a Son of God is just amazing. I can’t even fathom what that means. But from what I do know is that I will be like him for I will see him as he is. I love God with all my hear , mind and soul, he is always their when I need him. He instructs all of us and bears witness to his most holy and precious name. He is our father who does this. my brother who saved me from my own wickedness, and my counselor and protector who resides in me and in all of us who believe.

Two more. Maybe I should just provide a link to an online bible. 🙂

but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6

**Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. **

The whole Gospel of John. We studied it in Religious Studies at A-Level College (ages 16-18 for you americans out there!)

The study of all the intricate sybolism in every chapter, the ‘I AM’ phrases, the idea of Jesus’ ‘Signs’ just brought me back to life in the Spirit. A few years later I finally came home and it’s just so good to be back in the Church.

John will always have a special place in my heart, I love how the author goes to great pains to give everything such rich meaning, he can’t stress enough who this Jesus really is!

I’m also fond of Psalms 39 and 50
(or 40 and 51 depending on your bible).

Matt

Hear, O Israel, the LORD is our God, the LORD alone Dt 6,4.

and somewhere in the OT prophets God says

I have loved you with an everlasting love.

I don’t know where I got this, if it’s scriptural or not,
**MY NAME IS MERCY**

Jeremiah Chapter 1
4
The word of the LORD came to me thus:
5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.
6
“Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I know not how to speak; I am too young.”
7
But the LORD answered me, Say not, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8
Have no fear before them, because I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.
9
Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying, See, I place my words in your mouth!
I like to read it over when I begin to have doubts on if I am cut out for Priesthood. I thank God for secretly telling me to start with the Prophets when I started to really read the Bible. Isaiah and Jeremiah right in a row. I think i really owe it to those two books for really solidifying my Vocation. They were very helpful to a 16 year old considering the Priesthood
