“At the bottom” by Brand New.

Lyrics:

“And we spoke
About the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
And which songs we had loved the most
And then we all turned to dirt
And dust
Some men die under the mountain just looking for gold
Some die looking for a hand to hold”

Oh and also this timeless classic!

Joan Osborne - What if God was one of us?

Some of the best lyrics:

“Nobody callin’ on the phone, except for the Pope maybe in Rome”

“God is great, God is good”

“What if God had a face? And would you wanna see? If seeing meant that you would have to believe in things like Heaven, and in Jesus and the Saints and all the Prophets”

Mary Mary - “God in me”

Lyric:

“But what they don’t know is that when you get home and get behind closed doors man you hit the floor, and what they can’t see is you on your knees, so the next time you get a chance tell em: it’s the God in me.”

I am a multi-instrument musician and I have done a lot of American old-time string band music. There are two tunes in that genre that really grab me:

Then there is this one, which is a traditional Christian hymn that IMHO is masterfully turned into secular spiritual tune that comes very close to the old-time string band tradition:

Blockquote
Granted, I see your point and I agree with you. The song is divided in two equal parts. One that praises God and the other Krishna.

The first two minutes of the song have the following chorus,
My sweet Lord
(Hallelujah)

and the second half of the song have the following chorus,

My Lord
(Hare Krishna)
Tis_Bearself ask me if I was aware of the Hare Krishna chorus in the background of the song and what is quoted above, was my reply. Then Tis_Bearself also mentions as well, that in the background there are others that he mentions in the song too. It is more of an spiritual song where he mentions everyone including God. Take notice that God is the first one he mentions for the first two minutes of the song.

After Forever - Black SAbbath

Could it be you’re afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believe in God above?
They should realize before they criticize

The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden
Quotes The book of Revelations at the beginning of the song.

Tracy Byrd - “Keeper of the Stars”. He doesn’t actually say “God” or “Jesus” in the song, but it’s pretty clear he’s referring to God. If I ever do get married, I want this song played at the reception.

I know there are varying interpretations of what “Holy Diver” by Dio is about, but I always picture St. Clement (the legend of how he died by drowning, tied to an anchor, which may not have been the way he actually died I know) or similar, due to the picture of the priest and the demon on the cover of the record.

Sings - Five Man Electric Band

And the sign said, “Everybody welcome. Come in, kneel down and pray”
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all
I didn’t have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, “Thank you, Lord, for thinkin’ ‘bout me. I’m alive and doin’ fine”
Wooo!
