Cream was an early band that Eric Clapton got started in.

As for the Yardbirds, maybe someone else can help me with my scanty knowledge…but here’s is what memory serves…

The lead singer from Led Zepplin left the Yardbirds to start a new band and Eric Clapton, in an effort to discourage him said “You’re gonna fall like a lead zepplin.” So that’s what they named the band and the rest is history.

Cream - “White Room”, “Crossroads”, “I Feel Free”, etc. Drummer was fantastic (yeah, so was Clapton and Bruce, I know, I know…)

Yardbirds - “Heart Full of Soul” and “For Your Love” were their only big hits. They had three major guitarists play for them at different times - Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Clapton played on “For Your Love”, Beck on “Heart Full of Soul”.

'ow 'bout them Moody Blues? The BEST singing art rock group on the planet! Love most of the music on their “core 7” albums, especially stuff like “Nights in White Satin” and “Tueday Afternoon” (Days of Future Passed album), “Ride My See-Saw” and “Voices in the Sky” (In Search of the Lost Chord), and so many others…“Question”, “For My Lady”, “New Horizons”, “I’m Just a Singer in a Rock’n’Roll Band”…fabulous. :hypno:

As much as I admire Jon Anderson’s vocal range, or the technical virtuosity of the various Yes musicians, or the overall “coolness” factor of their music…the Moodies got 'em beat by miles in “heart” category.

Yes has a lot of really good music, and “Close to the Edge” is one of my favorite albums. But the Moody Blues were far, far better (in my opinion) in that they could make music that touches my emotions far better than Yes. Songs like “Question”, “New Horizons”, “Isn’t Life Strange”, “Never Comes the Day”…delivered by Hayward, Lodge, Thomas and Pinder, hit me in ways Yes can’t, making me laugh, cry or relax in a huge way. Yes’ music makes me go, “Awesome! These guys can do all kinds of neat stuff.” And…that’s it.

IMO. Yours may freely differ. 👍
