I am going to have to try making that sometime. It sounds good in theory. 😉

I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever had mincemeat pie! I think I have? If so, it’s been years and I can’t remember if I liked it or not. It’s not something that’s ever been on our menus.

I have never had it though my aunt always had it for Thanksgiving. The name was a turn off as a child. 🥴 I recently read what is in it and though it might be worth a try, with no meat!

it’s even better in practice!

When I was in iowa, there were two local brands in the stores. mmm . . .

In western Pennsylvania, with more deer than people (so many that you could tell when it was deer season by the car damage!), the locals had never even heard of it.

Venison is an important ingredient, but the majority of what you find today is vegetarian.

Stuffing vs. dressing

My dad always made stuffing IN the turkey and it was the most wonderful thing in the world.

My mother-in-law makes dressing in a pan, baked alongside the turkey, and it’s the most wonderful thing in the world.

I love both!

Broccoli-cheese casserole! Best leftovers in the world.

I put in in between leftover dinner rolls and make sqishy lil’ sammiches. Mmm.

Mincemeat pie used to have minced meat in it but in more recent times, it’s usually dried minced fruit. It’s divine served with vanilla ice cream.

I usually associate mincemeat pie with Christmas not Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving has pecan pie and pumpkin pie.

With family, I make a chocolate pecan pie. It’s my specialty.

Noodle kugel?

When can I show up at your house? 😉
Anytime you want…I’ll make some! Thanksgiving this year is at 4pm mountain time. This is the first time in 14 years that my son has Thanksgiving off so we get to celebrate ON Thanksgiving! Usually we do the Wednesday before or Friday after. We’re excited to watch football and stuff our faces on the same day!

Do you prefer a sweet or non sweet kugel? I use slivered almonds on top and no raisins but I can change that up for your preferences! Most people have no idea what kugel is but once eaten, they love it!

Sweet kugel of course.

I have Jewish relatives, via marriage, and they bring over their noodle kugel during family Thanksgiving get together.

I like leftover turkey with cranberry sauce in a sandwich.
I remember listening to a podcast where people were claiming their favorite ways to eat leftover Thanksgiving foods. I couldn’t believe the number of people that made some type of sandwiches…Turkey and stuffing, Turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, Turkey and yams, and yours…Turkey and cranberry sauce!

I just make Turkey sandwiches! I have tons of other recipes to use leftover turkey including a casserole with Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and cheese on top…that sounded ok. Mostly, I just keep reheating the leftovers as they are and eat it on thanksgiving, the day after, the day after that…until gone! It’s my favorite dinner, so I’m a happy diner!

Same here.

I don’t try to remake them into something else.

I’m happy to have Thanksgiving meal the second, third, fourth time around.

But turkey sandwiches with stuffing and a bit of Mayo are delicious!! 😋

I read all the favorites but I can’t pick a favorite! All of it is my favorite from the turkey a d dressing to the pumpkin 🥧 with whipped cream and a tall glass of iced sweet tea! Sweet potato’s, mashed potatoes, corn from the freezer and green beans from last year’s garden…

Stuffed Sweet Potatoes with Pecan and Marshmallow Streusel, baked mac and cheese and cranberry sauce from the can.

My favorites and eaten only on Thanksgiving. Can’t wait.

Hope everyone has a Happy ThanksGiving
