I know that many people admire Saint Pius X and Pope John Paul II, myself included. They both had many wonderful qualities.šŸ‘ šŸ™‚

However, I am wondering what other 20th-Century Pope you admire, in addition to these two men of God.

I love Venerable Pope Pius XII!:amen:

Pope Paul VI

He didnā€™t cow tow to the liberals and try to ā€œchangeā€ the Church teaching on artificial BC. ā€”KCT

Eugenio Pacelli ā€“ Pope Pius XII. I pray for his canonization.

(Heck, I wanted to name one of my children ā€œEugenio Pacelliā€ but my wife nixed that right away!)

Paul VI. Lots of people diss him and I usually try to take up for the underdog. Itā€™s also not easy following a beloved and charismatic Pope like John XXIII or John Paul the Greatā€¦which is why our beloved Holy Father Benedict XVI has all my prayers.

I voted for my main man Pius the XII. Heā€™s the man.

I think Pius was just the most wonderful man and a glorius pope. Itā€™s shameful that people try to smear his name these days.

John XXIII. I donā€™t remember Pius although I was in grade school when he was still Pope. John had a human face. Paul was mostly aloof.

Hmmmmā€¦I wonderā€¦[looks at name of this postā€™s poster]ā€¦waits for people to catch onā€¦

Aha, POPE PAUL! Gotcha (JK)

No, it is really Pius XII.

Come on, letā€™s make this one of the most popular polls in the history of the CA Forums!šŸ˜ƒ

It was really close for me. I am certain Iā€™d have voted for JP I if he had reigned longer.

Hereā€™s my choice in order:

John XXIII, for Vat2
John Paul I, for potential
John Paul II, for obvious reasons
Benedict XV, for doing his best during WW1
Leo XIII, for his labor encyclical
Pius XI, for his courage expressed through Mit Brennender Sorge
Pius X
Pius XII
Paul VI

John

I voted for Pius XII because this holy, wise and courageous Pope is so often misrepresented. Many claim he was a Nazi sympathiser, when in fact he was Hitlerā€™s most fervent, constant and courageous opponent. And many depict him as the last bastion of rigid unchanging doctrinaire conservatism before ā€œall those loonies after him brought in all the changesā€. In fact the groundwork for the changes, and some of the changes themselves, were made during his reign, and most if not all of the changes would almost certainly have been implemented under him if he had lived longer.
