šŸ™‚ If you had to choose, what is your favourite Gospel passage or event in the New Testament?

I think among my favourites is Luke 7:36-50 šŸ™‚

Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman
36Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, 38and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, ā€œIf this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.ā€

40Jesus answered him, ā€œSimon, I have something to tell you.ā€
ā€œTell me, teacher,ā€ he said.

41"Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[a] and the other fifty. 42Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?"

43Simon replied, ā€œI suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.ā€
ā€œYou have judged correctly,ā€ Jesus said.

44Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, ā€œDo you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.ā€

48Then Jesus said to her, ā€œYour sins are forgiven.ā€

49The other guests began to say among themselves, ā€œWho is this who even forgives sins?ā€

50Jesus said to the woman, ā€œYour faith has saved you; go in peace.ā€

Read my signature. My favorite is the Blessing of the Children.

I like it because:
A) I have a special ministry teaching children
B) It sums up everything St. Therese of Liseaux did
C) It reminds me to come to Jesus humble and simple. He dosen’t want a big show of holiness. We just have to love him with our whole hearts, like a child.

Amen!

Tie.

1st John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

1 Peter 2:15-16 For it is God’s will that by doing right you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.

James 2:18 But some will say ā€œYou have faith and I have works.ā€ Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-21 Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit, do not despise prophesying, but test everything; hold fast what is good…

Truth be told… it’s hard for me to pick even those four… I started flagging my favorite passages in my bible with those little post-it flags so I can quickly refer back to them… lol… now my bible is pretty much nothing but flags. =)

Beside the one in my signature, John 6:35 & 48, ā€œI am the Bread of lifeā€, i say 4 verses of Sacred Scripture often, especially during the Holy Mass;

**"Dominus meus et Deus meus! (ā€œMy Lord & My Godā€ Thomas’ words after placing his finger in the wounds of Jesus! Jn 20:28),

ā€œI believe, help my unbeliefā€ (Mk 9:24),

ā€œLord save meā€ (Peter when walking on water Mt 14:30),

ā€œMiserere Mei Deusā€ (Have Mercy on me, O God!" (Ps 51:1).

My favorite is beyond a doubt John 17. John 17 is where my heart lies. It is Jesus’ magnificent prayer for unity and sanctification in truth. No divisions in the Christian faith can stand against these verses.
John 17:
John 17

Jesus Prays for Himself

1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
Jesus Prays for His Disciples

6"I have revealed you[a] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. 12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. 13"I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Jesus Prays for All Believers

20"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24"Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25"Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
I love these verses. When Jesus asks His Father that we be one as He and His Father are one, this allows no doctrinal division, for between Jesus and the Father there were no divisions. It means we must be one in love and in faith, totally surrendered just as Christ was totally surrendered to His Father even as all the Father had belonged to Him, for they held nothing back from one another. It’s a unity in all things, the unity of family, a unity of the highest order, not lowest common denominator unity but maximum unity, perfect, total unity, a kind we find given in fullness here on Earth in the Catholic Church which is one. The Father answered Jesus’ prayer and this call to submission and unity is a total call, fulfilling the highest ideals of life.

My favorite is Jesus walking on the water. I like how it shows that Jesus can do anything, even what is beyond human power.
