Favourite Hymn out of these 10

What are your favourite hymns out of these 10? If I never posted one that you like, you are most welcome to post it 🙂
 
I said “Hail, Holy Queen” and “Immaculate Mary” although I must admit that I prefer it as “Avec les saints anges”, the original French hymn of my childhood.

I voted for “Abide With Me,” but two of my other all-time favorites are “How Great Thou Art” and “Sing With All the Saints In Glory” (I discovered that one just a few months ago, and I just love it!).
 
I voted for “I Vow to Thee My Country,” because I simply love the tune, Thaxted.

I also voted for “Spem in Alium,” because I like Tallis so much, but the Tallis I love the most is “If Ye Love Me,” which I will be singing next week!

I voted “Spem in Alium”. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed. It’s a dream of mine to sing it someday, if a rather unlikely dream as the thing’s a bloody 40-part motet! 😃 I listen to it when I need a bit of exquisite beauty in my day, or when I need once again to marvel at the mind that could compose such a work.
 
I voted for “Holy God we praise thy Name”. We sing this after Benediction every Friday.
I do not have an opportunity to hear Gregorian chant or any Latin hymns. I do love them though as the very sound leads my soul heavenward.
I could also see myself voting for Tantum Ergo. Is that classified as a hymn? (I am obviously no music expert.)
One of my favourites is actually “Credo III”. Hymn or not, I love it.

And I prefer *Salve Regina * in lieu of
Hail Holy Queen.
Of all these ten hymns, the only ones I ever hear at my parish are Holy God We Praise Thy Name and Immaculate Mary, and those perhaps once yearly.
 
That was a fairly tough poll to work with. I love them all but chose Miserere mei, Deus.

You guys actually have Benediction?
I don’t ever remember seeing Benediction at my parish, but I saw it a few times in the late "70s at St.Birgitta’s in Portland after Mass.
 
I chose Allegri’s Miserere, though the poll’s a little unfair because it’s not really a hymn at all. If we’re talking about congregational hymns, I’d probably pick Holy God, We Praise Thy Name from this list, and maybe O God Beyond All Praising (Thaxted) from one’s that aren’t on the list.
 
I usually enjoy Tallis but *Spem in Alium *is a little much for me (“too many notes” 😉 ).

Yes we have Benediction at the end of an hour of Adoration every Friday night.
This started during Lent with Adoration/Benediction followed by Mass followed by the Stations of the Cross.

In May we had the Rosary instead of the Stations.

The priest decided to continue the Adoration until summer, but I don’t know when summer begins for him in this context – Adoration is scheduled again this week. 🙂

This has turned into a very special time for me and God has taught me greatly and blessed us with many graces.

I’m sorry. I could have chosen a better name, but what I meant was your favourite hymn/plyphony/antiphon/chant/motet. I just tried to summ it up into one word :o

Oh, and you can pick more than one hymn 🙂

They’re in the lead, too! Now, regarding Ave Maria, that is leading by far. I, personally, like the Gregorian chant version, Caccini, Bach/Gounod, and the Schubert version!

I cheated, I chose all of them!
 
Abide With Me, for no other reason than it was my grandma’s favorite . . .
 
None of the above,

Canticle of the Sun is by far the best hymn 😃

Out of those I like Immaculate Mary the best.
 
I voted for Ave Maria out of those.

However there is a special place in my heart for Pie Jesu. (Andrew Lloyd Webber )I would like to have it sung at my funeral. If they can find somebody to sing it, that is.
