I was wondering which is your favourite quote from the bible, this is mine…

apart from the Sermon on the Mount it is this…

John6 35

17 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. 36 But I told you that although you have seen (me), you do not believe. 37 Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, 38 because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. 39 And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it (on) the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him (on) the last day.”
God Bless you and much love and peace to you xxxxxxx

Ephesians 6:11-1711] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12] For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13] Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14] Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15] and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace;
16] besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one.
17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

This passage always makes me want to go out and do battle for our Lord. Spiritually, of course 😃

I have many favorites, and I change my mind on which I like more from time to time. Right now, my favorite is in my signature.

Alan

My favorites have always been these two from Romans. They’ve kept my heart at peace through many a struggle.

Romans 8:28

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers,

nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord

I have two:

*Romans 8:28 * All things work together for the good of those who love Him.

*From Psalm 16 * My boundaries enclose a pleasant land; indeed I have a goodly heritage. (For me, this one is closely related to the first one - no matter what happens or where I am in life, it’s good, because God has willed it for me.)

Well, maybe three:

Psalm 138:1 I thank you, Lord, with my whole heart.

One of my favorites is Proverbs 21:23 “He who guards his mouth and tongue keeps himself from trouble.”

I remember it so well because in 6th grade (37 years ago so it really made an impact) I had to write it 100 times for talking in class!

I do not have a permanent favorite. Right now this is the first thing to pop in my mind when I read you question.

"Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint"Isaiah 40:30-31

For me, two come to mind right now.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I now the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Galatians 6:14
But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world ahs been crucified to me, and I to the world.

GAl 2:[19-20]
I have been crucified with Christ; yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me. . .

My favorite is 2 Corinthians:12:9,
“My Grace is enough for you, for in weakness power reaches perfection’. And so I willingly boast of my weaknesses instead, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

I have a lot of favorites, but tonight I choose Isaiah 35 :

Isaiah
Chapter 35
1
1 The desert and the parched land will exult; the steppe will rejoice and bloom.
2
They will bloom with abundant flowers, and rejoice with joyful song. The glory of Lebanon will be given to them, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; They will see the glory of the LORD, the splendor of our God.
3
Strengthen the hands that are feeble, make firm the knees that are weak,
4
Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, he comes with vindication; With divine recompense he comes to save you.
5
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared;
6
Then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the dumb will sing. Streams will burst forth in the desert, and rivers in the steppe.
7
The burning sands will become pools, and the thirsty ground, springs of water; The abode where jackals lurk will be a marsh for the reed and papyrus.
8
A highway will be there, called the holy way; No one unclean may pass over it, nor fools go astray on it.
9
No lion will be there, nor beast of prey go up to be met upon it. It is for those with a journey to make, and on it the redeemed will walk.
10
Those whom the LORD has ransomed will return and enter Zion singing, crowned with everlasting joy; They will meet with joy and gladness, sorrow and mourning will flee.

I am longing for my time to come, to be in Heaven with Him.

God bless.

20 Then Job began to tear his cloak and cut off his hair. He cast himself prostrate upon the ground, 21 and said, “Naked I came forth from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I go back again. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!” (Job 1:20-21)

When you are in trouble dial 911. Psalm 91 verse 1 This is one of my favorites.

Deacon Tony SFO

Ps 90:12

“Teach us to number our days, O Lord, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

I love all the above.

Haven’t got a Bible with me and I’ve never been any good at quoting chapter & verse, but …

From 1 John somewhere:

Eternal life is this; to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

And my above-all favourite quote: Thomas the apostle’s words to Jesus after the resurrection:

My Lord and my God.

I say this at any moment of the day as a prayer, and during prayer as a “recall -to-focus” trigger.

Hello Teresa,

The greatest joy in my life is the love I recieve from my wife, children and friends. Knowing that I have the capacity to love God is a tremendous honor, joy and opportunity. Compared to God, I am but a nothing, yet I have the capacity to give to God the greatest gift of all, love.

NAB MARK 12 The Great Commandment.

“Which is the first of all the commandments?” Jesus replied, "This is the first:
**‘Hear O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!
Therefore you shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.’ **
“This is the second,
’You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
There is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe said to him: “Excellent, Teacher! You are right in saying, ‘He is the One, there is no other than he.’ Yes, ‘to love him with all our heart, with all our thoughts and with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves’ is worth more than any burnt offering or sacrifice.” Jesus approved the insight of this answer and told him, “You are not far from the reign of God.”

DEUTERONOMY 6:4

"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone! Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today. Drill them into your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest. Bind them at your wrist as a sign and let them be as a pendant on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

Peace in Christ,
Steven Merten

2 Timothy Ch 4
6 * For I am already being poured out like a libation, and
the time of my departure is at hand.
7 * I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have
kept the faith. 🙂
8 * From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me,
which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day,
and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his.

But like a lot of you I have many favorites, but this is my very favorite because it seems like it applys because I seem to be on a road to defend my faith.
