A great step! The whole test needs to be at home though.

Why call it an at home collection kit then if it is only for medical workers and
first responders?

I will wait until it is under $10 usd.

CDC list of symptoms
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
I have had every single one of those symptoms at one time or another since late January except for loss of taste and smell.

I feel fine but I’d sure like to take an antibody test.

I’m not interested in the swab test. If I were to test positive with that test, unless I can’t breathe, I’ll just be told to stay at home. Which is what I’m doing anyway.

At some point they plan to expand the criteria for the people that can get it. But it is called an “at home collection” because the collection occurs at home. However, the testing does not occur at home (this thread title might cause some to misunderstand this test). I person basically swabs themselves and gets their sample FedEx’ed to a LabCorp location. The test itself occurs in the lab.

This is at home collection, but a lab test, not a home test.

I understand it is done at home, but it is for health care workers and first
responders who are in the field right now. It is a little misleading. So it isn’t available for at home collection for the public yet.
