The first temptation placed before man was a challenge of what God said.

In view of this, I must apologize in advance for being judgmental.

When someone says A contradicts B therefore God lied. Or God said A and it didn’t happen so God lied. Or blah, blah, so Christ isn’t the Messiah I jump to the irrational conclusion that someone has no fear of God.

If I ever thought there was a contradiction, I would say, “God said A and God said B, I know they both must be true, so what am I not understanding?” After lengthy discussion, if I still did not understand, I would say, “I am still not ready to understand, may God give me such wisdom in the future”, rather than pronounce judgment on God.

But in my sin I immediately assume that the questioner is not an honest questioner, but is just baiting the forum. I admire that the forum administrators have much more patience and grace than I. So I covet your prayers that I may not falsely judge those who love God but choose such wording out of ignorance, and that the anger that arises because of it be tempered by an awareness of my own sinfulness.

I’ve seen several times that someone has posited this recently, and I can only comment on those. Most of the time, it seems that someone is using this as a tool to seek the truth.

Some people doing this by saying, “If God said A and God said B and they contradict, then God must be a liar. We all know that God is not a liar, so where am I wrong?” This question begs the response that clears up the view that A (or B) are simply misunderstood or misinterpreted sayings of God. This is quite common when someone mistakenly applies today’s linguistics and trends to words spoken 1000’s of years ago. For instance, saying God was merely using “The Royal ‘We’” when He said, “We must make man in Our Image…”.

Others use the first half of the “*If God said…” *statement, but leave out the “… We all know that God is not a liar…”, even though its understood.

It even happens that the person is presented with an answer that resolves the contradiction and misses the meaning because of the source of the answer. Later to seemingly arrive at the answer themselves or recieve it from a more acceptable source and be able to understand how that same answer resolves the conflict.

Don’t sweat it, it’s not sinful to suspect fire when you see smoke.

I honestly believe that the difference is that one you trust that what God has said is true, the Truth. Whether you understand it or not. But there are some who think to require God to meet their standard of understanding, thus justifying in their own hearts that which they want to believe. I find it very strange that any one would insists that it is their way, where in Truth one is in control over nothing. I mean do you really have control over the events of the day before you?

If I may , if the questioner is to be assumed not honest, prove him out before taking any steps. If he wants to reason then reason. He who seeks to be justified in his own thinking, is dying to justify his own thinking. Remember the Lord our God need no justification to be, nor does he need theirs. You are in the position of peace that does not need to meet anyone’s satisfaction but the Lord’s satisfaction.

It’s kinda like a let it be attitude, read your Bible, see things as they are, and let it be. God sees things as they are, and He hasn’t trash the place, yet. Some day yes, but it is in his hands in the first place.

I think sometimes we forget, He is Almighty, owner of heaven and earth but He is also owner and commander of the world. In the OT when the Lord God said some nation was going to do something, He says He is the One that’s going to make them do it.

There are those who would say and do whatever it takes in order to win the day or feed their bellies. And there are those who would eat at the Lord’s table in order that they may say and do.

Thanks Dp,

Pr 18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

It may not be sin, but it is a shame. We should live to not be ashamed.

thank for the reply

As you already understand my friend, man goes by his instincts. But consider the Grace of God, how is the creature to know other than his own instincts unless the Lord reveal to him the Ways of the Lord?

Consider what King David expressed in his understanding of his relationship with the Lord his God.
Ps:23:4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;** thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.**

What does it take for God to get you to walk in His Ways to live His Life He has given, and know the Truth? Surly it is correction. Don’t Let yourself to expect yourself to know how to be like the Lord, can you counsel yourself in God’s Knowledge, are you the example? Of corse not, the Lord knows His Way, because He is the Way, who else could be? Therefore what is the Father’s expectation, (Hope) in us, through His Son Jesus Christ? Could it be that the man receive of Him that is not of the man. If the Lord correct you rejoice, for He Loves you to be More like Him by the Power of His Presence (Holy Spirit) with you and in you my friend.

You mention “fear of God” consider; if your (hope) desire and expectation be in and of the world then you fear the world for it can remove your hope from you. If your Hope desire and expectations are in the Lord Jesus. Then you fear the Lord accordingly. Which brings wisdom knowledge and understanding in and of the Lord. Of which the Lord will not, nor cannot fail you. If the Lord stops correcting you, then your fear is warranted and has reason to be. Shame is not required, only repentance of that which the Lord has shown He intends to correct in you. The Lord has already taken the shame away, but the process of that knowledge, of what replaces it, (Truth in His Spirit) is a step by step walk with the Lord Himself. Hence continually proving you out.

Shame: that and a buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee.

Repentance and what is received of the Lord is forever.

God Bless you my freind, for the Lord is always with you.

I agree, it is not for us to judge people - Jesus will condemn the wicked to eternal torment in his own time, we have to just explain the truth to them. There are no contradictions with God it is a heresay to claim this.
